for his career James has been very durable, yes Bozeman has too, but no question that James is the better center, is James some kind of special player, no, but he's been a lot better at center than bozeman over the length of their respective careers..."The author assumes no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions in the content of this post. The rest of this grouping tells me that Hortiz must see a lot of good tape and potential to return to above average play in Andre James .Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post

hurst--conklin?
the pattern I'm seeing here is players that missed time being replaced with players that didn't...availability is being prioritized in this free agent class, hence Joey getting cut and Mack getting extended etc...
Is Conklin's best asset his hands or blocking?

I believe Jenkins signed with Cleveland.Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Postpeople were saying that Hortiz was prioritizing compensatory picks over making the team better, LOL!!!
Hortiz has gone apeshit in free agency, at this point he's re-signed 10 of our own guys and he's signed an additional 9 free agents, some qualified and some unqualified but he's systematically filling holes left and right...he's also spending the cap and by signing short deals with little risk he's basically buying time to continue building the team thru the draft and rolling cap into future years...All these short deals give them the option to continue filtering guys that they don't want (telesco dudes) and then keeping guys that they do like, guys like Molden, Tart, Dye, etc...
I honestly hope our fanbase learns from this offseason instead of posting shit like "fire Hortiz now!!!" next offseason, LOL...
IF Hortiz signs Conklin, the only big holes left will be RB depth, Edge depth, LG and pass rushing DT...it's crazy to say this but they might go into the draft basically a pretty complete team with very few holes, keep in mind that Hernandez and Jenkins are still out there to plug into LG...AND they could go into a draft class that's deep at all the positions I mentioned earlier...
None of this shit is happening by luck or whatever, Hortiz is calculating and precise in how he attacks his job, nothing is outside of a clear plan, he makes it look like common sense after the fact but while we were in it, a lot of people here were not seeing the plan, hopefully now they do...

Why would T-Mac even be available? He's a top ten pick, I'm not sure why folks are talking about a kid that won't be anywhere near pick #22...but if he was available and you pass on him you can't come back and tell your fans that you drafted BPA in the draft...

Unless Conklin were to sign for a lot and Asante not sign for much… chargers still might get a comp pickOriginally posted by Fouts2herbert View Postpeople were saying that Hortiz was prioritizing compensatory picks over making the team better, LOL!!!

but I am good even if no comp pick. I think Hortiz has been solid

he's a receiving TE with average to below average blocking, the guy catches everything, his drop rate is ridiculous, like 1% or something like that...he also has a high contested catch percentage...Originally posted by Whydachargers? View Post

Agree with most of what you said. Except, signing Conklin still leaves us with HUGE holes at TE!Originally posted by Fouts2herbert View Postpeople were saying that Hortiz was prioritizing compensatory picks over making the team better, LOL!!!

If we signed Goedert, we would have a great #2 TE to compliment our future #1 TE, Loveland! Dissley is a great #3 TE.... the rest of our "TE's" can be cut, cause they have no speed and cannot catch....
ever since Gates retired this team has kept trying to fill our roster with part time/rotational type TE's.... instead of finding a great difference making TE... a great TE means you dont have to have multiple expensive WR's.... and you can still have a great offense.... TE's beat blitzes by getting open so quickly that QB's get rid of the ball quick avioding hits and helping the OL....
