No, the biggest mistakes in this franchise's history were Gene Klein trading Jefferson and Dean away, followed thereafter by Big Hands, etc.

Drafting Ryan Leaf? The SINGLE worst decision this franchise made, player-wise, in it's history. The second worst? Trading up ONE EFFING SPOT to "get" him!

You have got to be kidding me about the solid GM....he left behind a disastrous group of FA pickups and had a 4 year stretch of horrid drafts. His time was done.

If we had anything remotely close to a good HC, we would have made the playoffs from 2006 through 2012.

A.J. was forced to gamble (against his own philosophy) on risky free agents because everybody knew his job was on the line and it was a weak year for free agents. Also, I do not recall reading about anyone complaining about the moves at the time they were made (Gaither, Royal and Meachem). I thought they were the best moves that could have been made under the circumstances. Unfortunately, they didn't work out and then the hypocrite festival began.

A.J. did have some weaker drafts over several years, but he identified and fixed his mistake (gambling early) in his later drafts. And, of course, it goes almost without saying that A.J. also had a couple of the best drafts/offseasons our team has ever had. You might take a look at what he did in 2004 for example--Rivers, Olshansky, Kaeding, Hardwick, Phillips, Turner, Bingham and Olivea, plus trade rights that turned into Merriman the following year. And Floyd and Welker were signed as UDFAs. I doubt that Telesco will ever have any two drafts that produce as much--7 Pro Bowlers, plus multiple solid players.

It was stunning to me that the team ownership could not differentiate between the worst HC in all of football and a GM that had built a roster that didn't have a losing season for 9 years.
