Brenen Thompson, WR, Mississippi St. (Rd 4 #105)

I'm sure they want a healthy RB roster in post season. Toward that end, using Vidal frequently to lighten the load seems likely.
It'll be interesting with a new OL, OL blocking scheme and McDaniel. We'll run. How much, with whom, against whom will be adjusted frequently.

I like the Keaton Mitchell acquisition very much, but I find it hard to believe that a guy 5-8, 190 pounds and with only 121 carries and 19 receptions in his so far three-year NFL career is the clear #2 over Kimani Vidal. I think both of them will get their opportunities, but I'm not ruling out Vidal to step in as the main guy if Hampton goes down with an injury again. I'm happy to have both of them, and as you say, the matchups will probably dictate who will receive more touches.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I'm wondering if he had stayed healthy and remained at Oklahoma if he would have gone higher in the draft. I'm sure he would have had even more success with John Mateer throwing him the ball (while Mateer was healthy). Brenen could be one of the big steals.

I think you are right, IF Hampton were to get injured again, then Vidal would be the lead back, given his pass pro and overall game over Mitchell.

But in the best case scenario, Hampton stays healthy and shows why the Chargers loved him enough to use a first round pick on a RB, and he is the clear cut #1. That is the scenario where I see Mitchell getting a few more touches in the rotation than Vidal because of his speed and explosion that MM is itching to utilize.

I was observing TPB during my sabbatical, and this thread stuck out as I wondered if this was still a Brenan Thompson thread lol. I'm excited to see this kid because yes he's small with the risks/fears we all know - BUT ... he played a LOT on the outside, beat press cover attempts with relative ease, and seems much more nimble and quick at evading strong corner press and getting open quickly vs, say, a Darius Davis has ever shown (in college or pro).

Could be a real diamond in the rough. He's got a roster glut in front of him with QJ, LM, TH, and KLS - I don't expect him to get all that many opportunities (as WR) his rookie year unless injuries hit. or unless he takes over some return duties.
