I don't think we can count on Mathews to do jack fucking shit, I have no confidence in him.

That's my problem with Mathews... counting on him. I'm hoping Baker emerges and there's a true committee with Baker and Woodhead and whatever Mathews gives would be a bonus. Not counting on much from Ronnie Brown either.

Mathews has talent. One fumble in exhibition season though, and he drops down the charts. The bolts can't afford to have their rbs lose games for them.

Rookie year he was decent.

Second year he was a pro bowler.

Third year destroyed by injury and a horrible offensive line.

He definitely has flaws in his game but people are way too down on him in my view

The pro bowl is a joke but even so he was only a Pro Bowler because Arian Foster and Ray Rice couldn't make it.

ya it feels weird to say he made the probowl when you understand the circumstances around it.

Wasnt he also the 2nd replacement because McGahee couldn't play? Making him like the 6th RB on the roster? He had a good sophomore season..but in 2012 he missed wide open holes. Ran right into his OL at times. Was inconsistent. And still couldnt block on 3rd downs effectively. You want to see a franchise RB get better each year. And a pick 12 RB should be able to play on all 3 downs. At least i thought he would be able to handle it better over Spiller and Best.

Hes got the talent no question...i just question his work ethic. I think the reason LT was so durable was a direct result of his work ethic. I also think hes other focused.

At a certain point we will see a team win it all buy running the ball. The less teams defend against it the more suseptable defences will become to the run.

So, what does Matthews need to do in your mind to earn a small extention next offseason?
For me its,

A. Stay healthy for 16 regular season games.
B. 1000+ Rushing yards 300+ recieving yards. 6+TD's 4+ YPC 4 or less fumbles in 16 games.
C. Not lose carries to any other RB on 1st and second down.
D. Grow up a little bit!
