Norv is one of the greatest coaches in this franchises history, he is pretty good. Give the man some respect.
Yes. He ranks right up there with Dan Henning as one of the greatest coaches of all time. How much longer 'til he's eligible for the Hall of Fame? He's a guaranteed, unanimous, first-ballot entrant.
Only Sid Gillman (86) and Don Coryell (69) have more wins total then Norv (56).
Gillman (0.593), Ross (0.588) and Schottneheimer (0.588) are all about the same in terms of winning percentage (Norv .583).
And Norv (3) ties Ross (3) and Coryell (3) for playoff wins.
The first part is an objective statement the second part is subjective colored by expectations.
I think he got more out of the team than schottenheimer, and was done in by playoff injuries and a choking field goal kicker in his two best shots to win a championship. I don't think the talent level was there the past few mediocre seasons.

I remember all the conversations we had about how would we be able to extend the contracts of all the stars we had. What a joke. The team just imploded.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
The Wasted Decade is done.

The talent level dipped for sure but I'm sorry, too many coaching blunders by Norv for him to get a pass like that. The guy underachieved PERIOD. This team has real hope now.
Why does it matter to us what is being written about Norv in Cleveland. People here won their fight and Norv and AJ are gone. Do we really need to bayonet the dead as well?
I understand your point. I brought this up because we keep hearing about how efficient McCoy is with his practices, how he simplifies things, how QB friendly he is, how fast paced he keeps things, etc. All reasons that we wanted Norv gone. But I read that Norv has done the same types of things McCoy is credited with doing now that he is in Cleveland. I find that curious. Either Norv has changed, Chud forced him to change, Cleveland was really pathetic under Shurmur, or McCoy is really, really super duper.
