Agree, i think the player aquisition thing for that reason is over blown. They kicked our asses in the playoffs and dont need a IR player to help them out.

Per NFL transaction report, WR Dylan Cantrell (shoulder) and WR Fred Trevillion cleared waivers, so the two revert to IR. Both players were at practice today.

So they are done for the season or they can come back when healthy?

I think the IR guys can come back about 8 weeks into the season, no special designation needed, but they are limited in how many can come back. At least they can't be poached now.

** Apparently he liked living in the fast lane at little too much.

Local Bay Area radio talking a lot about 49ers today and how much of a impact Verrett should have and they are counting on him to stay healthy.

I've been reading about how good he looks in their TC. Hope it works out for him. SF is close to home. He's from Fairfield.

idunno. thats heaping alot of praise on Cantrell. Verrett played at all-pro caliber CB level. he was their best CB at a point in time, He was a true island lockdown corner in his brief run when he could play. He just couldn't stay on the field.

I haven't seen Cantrell do anything. I don't believe he's all pro anything and never will be even if he was always available to play. I can be 100% wrong, sees alot of folks are very high on him. I see a guy who isn't fast and isnt quick and doesn't have good moves - so he won't beat DBs to get open early underneath or downfield (well, absent a blown coverage of course).

i see a tweener, and i hate tweeners. not personally, of course, but as players. NFL is specialized at every position, there are no jack of all trade guys in the NFL - the last tweener on LAC o recall was Hester, he was useless. I see Cantrell as a guy too slow of foot for WR and too small for TE. but again, i could be 100% wrong and would be happy to eat all of these words
