No one is neglecting or overlooking the importance of Oline.

    Player development is complex.

Cap space is always in play.

We have had different Oline coaches, with contrasting ideas about scheme and technique.

TT has famously missed on draft picks (DJ Fluker, Chris Watt, Max Tuerk) and free agents (Orlando Franklin, Chad Rinehart, Joe Barksdale.)

Tough blows have occurred with King Dunlap's concussions, and Chris Hairston's, Russell Okung's heart issues.

Late round picks and undrafted free agents have just not developed at all (Tyreek Burwell, Donavon Clark, Sam Tevi.)

We must invest in who we have...patience, coaching, training and game experience.

Do not forget TT's hits, such as King Dunlap, Russell Okung and Mike Pouncey.

Hope like hell Trent Scott, Forrest Lamp, Dan Feeney, Scott Quessenberry, and Trey Pipkins become adequate, and Russell Okung can miraculously resume his NFL career.

Do not give up on Trent Scott and Forrest Lamp, after TWO PRESEASON GAMES, especially when snaps are the only way they can actually grow as players.

This is where we are at.
Very good point. Scott seems to have some upside. Pip looked pretty decent in run blocking at times...just needs to work on pass pro...Lamp improved a bit from game 1 to 2...

Right. Now we will trade KA or TB for Trent Williams. Whatya think AK ?

I agree Scott has upside but if this is our year to contend for a Super Bowl we can't rely on upside for a starter at Tackle. Upside is reserved for backup contributors who maybe able to make a jump late in the season or ready to start the following year. Upside is cool if we were talking about Adderly, but we don't even know what he can do in game situation do to him being injured, but from what we seen from his college career, you see upside and if he enter in healthy we talk about him contributing based on potential in the rotation and competing for starting positon as the season carries on, but he is so far behind I doubt he will start this year. Going back to Lamp I think he has looked good enough to start I am not sure what is going on behind the scenes.

I am rolling with reluctance for starters

Tackles- Tevi and Scott with great concern with Tevi seems he has gotten worse and Pipkins isn't ready and they haven't rolled anybody esle out at Tackle that has impress
        Guards- Feeney and Lamp
        Center- Pouncey

Fair points BUT how do the Patriots figure out how to build a solid o-line every single year? And why can't we replicate that approach? This is not rocket science.

They have a great, great Oline coach, Dante Scarnecchia.

I grant you sir that Charger fans have every good reason to be fired up about the Oline.

            So, fire away, PMR !!

For starts, the answer is Bellichick, Scarneccia and their 20 years together in NE. That & they're obviously pretty good.
Lynn & Meyer's OL appears to be on an upward curve based on "W's" but two years is a small sample. PFF be damned, it's all about the wins. Let's see what the actual result is in 2019 games that count.

Scarneccia retired after the 2013 season and the Pats line was not nearly as good the following two seasons, so BB convinced him to come back out of retirement and it immediately paid off. The guy is, IMO, the best oline coach in football by a long shot. I'd love to see what he could do with our young guys for a season or two.

Do you think Pipkins and UDFA Trent Scott were the 2 best NFL ready LTs available this off season? Get real. Matt Khalil or Chris Clark to name just two FA and anyone in the draft when we had our 3rd pick. Pipkins many expected to go in the 7th rnd . Chuma Edoga , Bobby Evans , Yodny Cajuste, David Edwards etc

Sorry. There were better options available. Keep up the blind faith though.

We need to pay close attention to the waiver wire, but we will be in the very tail end on claiming players, Philly looks like they have an overflow at Offensive Tackles minus the top guy Lance Johnson, Jason Peters, and rookie Andre Dillard who has been impressive,

A piece of advice. Don't mention blind faith when you list Matt Kalil and Clark as examples of quality LTs or better options. Trent Scott is legitimately better than those two. That's how bad Kalil and Clark are. As for the draft picks mentioned, I see a lot of RTs. Maybe some of them could be LTs but they also have weaknesses that rival Pipkins as well. The difference is that Pipkins not only has more upside but because he's so raw, he is more moldable and had less bad habits to unlearn. Regardless, I don't see any of the OT picks you've mentioned helping us immediately at the LT position. It's just unfortunate that Okung's heart issue threw a wrench into the whole plan.
