It doesn't make much sense to pull Clary off the PUP list IMO. Let him spend the first 6 weeks on it and fully recover and get in shape.

pretty sure we have a bunch of rookies and bottom of roster guys playing STs every year. Maybe its the pedigree of said rookies.

since the ST debacle, we've been using starters and top backups to play ST (like Weddle, JJ etc) even with the change in HC and Special Teams coach instead of relying on strictly role players and backups that year we had the worst ST

Yep. That's why a guy like Davis, who has legit potential at his position, might be kept over say Tutu if Davis can be an effective gunner. Just don't think being a ST ace saves Tutu his roster spot, he'll need to become more than an injury replacement street signing at WR to make it on the 53.

If we needed to we could probably sign him again off the street. He was available last year. Seriously, I don't think he makes the team. We have much more depth at WR this year and better depth we need to retain in other areas.

hilarious how someone spins a yarn and pigeonholes a player they don't like, a few believers blindly join in and it takes on a life of its own. In the case of Tutu, he is more than JUST a ST guy- he produces on offense when chances present themselves. Had the big TD catch vs KC last year and high per catch avg over career. Why he hasn't become a full time WR here or in CAR?- I can't answer- maybe the timing hasn't been right yet. It's just BS to keep repeating he's easily replaceable by some rookie "with potential" because he's "just a ST guy". Go back and look at Floyd's early career with us and what Inman is attempting to do for career trajectory of UDFA WRs with some size on our team....

I dont dislike Tutu at all. He has produced when called upon but the fact is he is on the bottom of the depth chart sosomebody with more potentual could take his spot if they think he be a better player. Grice was a gunner st AZ st as well so it isnt like we dont have another one.
Floyd was never cut by us and allowed to move on. Tutu has and did. They always brought Floyd back on the PS the first couple years...and in his rookie year, they IR'd him for a broken collarbone.

I don't dislike Tutu either, but calling him a viable WR, even as a backup, is ridiculous.

If we can get his gunner spot reasonably covered by another position (not unreasonable to think we can IMO), he'll lose his roster spot to a better WR (not hard).
