Tackles metric is probably one of the worst ways to judge if a player is good or not. Stephen Cooper used to lead the Chargers in tackles while being one of the worst LBs on the team and could never shed blocks in the run game and was way too slow in coverage as well.

Those who say Thomas Davis is good for the Chargers because of him racking up stats in tackles are clearly not watching the game and only looking at the box score.

I can see why Ron Rivera and the Panthers wanted to move on from him so fast. I remember I had gone on the Panthers forum when we signed him and many of their fans expressed relief as he was a huge liability in coverage for them.

Old Man Davis is not only a liability in coverage, but he seems to clean up on the easy tackles, but whiffs on the open field ones...

I mentioned earlier this season, that if we sucked, the upcoming year would be for rebuilding, thanks to extra cap. That can only be done with rivers on a very low salary (if he's willing to take it, which I doubt) or without rivers at all.

Either way, things will get interesting this offseason.
