Either the teams ahead of us take a risk on Tua,
or he falls to us.
Answer: they will go for the clean prospects at other positions early.
What part of 70% completion percentage do y'all not understand ?
The comp for Tua is Rivers, with his highly accurate passing at NC State.
LAC takes the player willing to promote Los Angeles.
Nashville is closer to Decatur and Inglewood is closer to Honolulu.

It may be a good idea to draft RB in First and QB in 2nd. Then focus on LBs.

Rivers will look great in a Panthers Uniform next year. Chargers will have many years to get a QB after the meltdown. Whiz was fired to see if Lynn is able to coach. I see a coaching change coming. Lynn is not safe

Team sources say Philip Rivers may not play for Chargers in 2020. With no extension talks planned, decline in play & Rivers’ lack of interest in promoting LA.. Could be critical elements moving forward & team inclined to go in a different direction.

There isn’t any QB this year worth trading up for. Take what comes.

Depending how they finish they could be inside or outside the top 10 for the draft.
If they just can't find a way to stack any wins. And actually lose the final 5 games, then 4-12 will likely be the 5th overall pick.
1. Bengals
2-4. Dolphins, Redskins, Giants.
5. Chargers
If this happens they better trade up to #1 and pick Joe Burrow.
Giants are not drafting QB at all.
Redskins might, but they did just draft one, if they like Haskins future, then they wont pick QB.
Dolphins probably will, unless internally the actually like Rosen future a lot. Then they wont pick QB.
Bengals absolutely have to pick a QB.
So the Chargers just need to give up what they Bengals require for #1.
If Chargers are 6th-10th, I think they can still get to #1 via trade up.
If Chargers are outside top 10 it will be more difficult and cost so much more. Probably can't beat another teams offer at that point.
Of course Bengals can decide they want Burrow and refuse to trade out no matter what.
Hopefully, Chargers make Bengals an offer they can't refuse and get #1 and draft Burrow. They have to find their next franchise QB and they cant settle for their 2nd or 3rd QB on their board or some developmental prospect. They need to go get Burrow.

I didn't think it was possible, but with some of these upsets...
there is a Gleem!

In fairness to Rivers,
* some of those teams were complete trash: 2011, 212, 2015, 2016 and the head coaches of those teams were 3rd rate.
* some of those teams overachieved: 2009, 2013, 2014 (given the injury bug), 2018
* LT was a shell of his former greatness in 2009 (& missed much of 2008 season & playoffs) & he was only a substantial factor in the January playoff loss to New England in 2007
* playing in a rinky dink soccer stadium & in front of a hostile crowd every Sunday has got to take an effect on a team sooner or later
* Chargers have been without the services of Okung, Gordon, Pouncey, Phillips, James (5 pro bowlers) pretty much the entire season & Williams/Henry/Ingram had been limited for a while
* Rivers is getting up there in age
One can still make a strong case that Rivers is not a Hall-of-Famer
(but he should have been the MVP in 2014 if he hadn't suffered the disc dislocation from repeated blunt instrument impacts)

Couple of wild card wins but didn’t advance beyond the divisional round a single time. A decade to forget.

They went 13-3 in 2009, LT final season with Bolts.
2010-2019.
Not a single AFC West title.
And only 1 season in a decade of 10+ wins in regular season. The franchise has under performed during Rivers time here. Rivers late close game one possession situational football has not been good enough to get just 1 more win to boost some of those 9-7 years to 10-6.
2010 9-7
2011 8-8
2012 7-9
2013 9-7
2014 9-7
2015 4-12
2016 5-11
2017 9-7
2018 12-4
2019 4-7
if my math is correct that is combined 76-79 regular season record for the last decade. No AFC West titles. That is not 1st ballot hof numbers to go with all his passing stats.
Been asking for a few season to spend a 1st on a QB.
As the Rivers era just could not seem to get over the hump and win the divison anymore and Rivers was closer to the end of his career than the beginning.
3 HCs & 2 GMs and various rosters somehow just wasnt quite the right recipe for success. Some of the more talented squads during the decade seemed to under achieve as well.
Plenty blame to go around to question the car and crew setting up the driver for success. But for me in a QB driven league. Rivers driving simply wasn't good enough. It was very very good, sometimes great and even amazing. But never consistently great. Up and down. And, IMO, it was sometimes spastic and out of control.
It is what it is.
You are what your record says you are.
