  • POLL: Is It Time To Bench Rivers?

Sorry, we've seen Rivers melt down like this time and time again. It's like a broken record. Rattle Phil early, and he's usually toast the rest of the game. His passes sail high, he forces the rock into coverage for picks, or makes other errors. Okay, we all know our O-line is a sieve. Still, if you have the talent we have at wideout, HH and RB, use them! This loss is on a combination of playcalling and Rivers. But it's mostly on Rivers. We now drop to 4-6, and playoff hopes are pretty much dead, especially they way we played today. Might as well bench Rivers and see what we've got with Tyrod and Stick. Give them each a start and see what they can do. Maybe we DON'T need to draft a QB if one of them produces. But, this is mindless, watching this awful play week after just about every week.

Don't bench Rivers until we're eliminated from the playoffs. I get the feeling that Rivers was not used to wearing the gloves this season so he was a bit off. But if Happy feet can't get his nerves down then maybe after we can do no better than 8-8 we can at least let some other qb improve.

Another poll with no basis in reality. There is ZERO chance Rivers get benched this season. The only way Taylor starts is if Rivers is hurt. And before people start talking about how mobile Taylor is, he gets sacked WAY more than Rivers does (10.4% of his passes vs 5.7% for Rivers).

How about a poll to see if we should ban starting polls

Only because the team doesn't have the OL talent to protect an aging not very mobile QB, which Rivers is.

Yes, save him for next year if the chargers can get their oline together by then. No need to put more wear and tear on an older qb if we aren't going anywhere this year.

Under normal circumstances maybe. But Rivers was sacked 5 times tonight. When the OL can't protect a QB, it stands to reason a more mobile QB will have more success. Taylor is not just more mobile, he is like a RB. His rushing yardage and rushing TDs scored while he was a starter is notable.

The season was over 3 or 4 weeks ago hoss.

I never saw what the point was in not blowing up the team at the trade deadline. That costs you at least a year in the rebuild.

Rivers is getting into the embarrassing level of old man bad. 9 attempts in the 1 minute drill & not a single completion.

I'm disappointed with him but let him finish this season out. No one on our roster is any better at QB.
