What's kind of baffling to me is how many pass routes were well short of the first down marker, especially on 3rd down. Who draws these plays up? Don't Lynn and Stitch know the LB's are going to be dropping back into coverage in the flats? But no, we go ahead and throw it to KA or Mike Will, who are immediately tackled, and we have to punt. Pitiful playcalling...

I made this point in the gameday thread. It's on the WR to know where he needs to be when he catches the ball. That last 3rd down was on KA for not being past the marker. He should know better by now.

I feel like the game was lost on the first drive when we had a 2nd and two at midfield and attempted two passes. I'm not even mad about the second down pass, but going empty backfield on third is just stupid. I would blame the OC, but the HC has to rein that shit in. He's supposed to be a run first coach. An empty backfield not only telegraphs the pass but also leaves the QB without an extra blocker on the blitz pickup. I was furious before the ball was even snapped on that play. I didn't get upset about anything else that happened in the game later. I got it all out of my system in the first quarter.

I'm not really looking to blame anyone for where the Bolts are now. I still kind of like Lynn, but he needs to clean that shit up.

Yep...I wish the Bolts would run more pass plays out of the I formation, or with Rivers under center and Gordon or Ekkie as single back...that way, he could really sell the play action...but no, empty backfield shotgun is so lame, or even shotgun with single back is fooling very few rushers...

Well, if he was under center, even if his PA is weak, at least it wouldn't telegraph whether it's a pass or run so much...shotgun is so stinkin predictable...

You expect those two to do everything? They need help for Christ's sake. DT is and continues to be the team's weakness.

You can blame Tillery, but you can't single him out. This team doesn't have a good pass rusher in the middle. Their lack of pass rushing there is disturbing.

Not so much a commentary on first down, but a lot more on the idea of our own OC on the phone daily with the OC from another team. Doesn't anyone else find it bizarre and a bit traitorous for Stitch to be talking DAILY to Norv, as has been reported? If Norv was out of football, that's one thing, but to be getting advice from an active coach from a potential opposing team (Panthers)?
