Players that choose team affection or team=family stories over pay are idiots. The league will (and must) spit them out the first day after they are no longer useful. Even if they don’t want to, they have to. It’s necessary evolution of any team that wants to succeed - or the entire team goes down. The used-up worn-out player will be standing on the sidewalk in just 5 years or so with his dick in his hands, bank account missing $10M or $20M he was offered somewhere else, wondering why they aren’t still BFFs and how come his door badge doesn’t work anymore. And for what - because he wants Baltimore to be his forever home? Who has millions and millions and holds the dream to spend the rest of their life living in Baltimore? He didn’t grow up in BAL, he’s from Iowa. What is the rate of Iowa natives seeking out their dream to grow old in Baltimore?

BAL may be able to compete for his next contract, They are woefully short on ammo vs many other teams such as the Chargers. I do not buy the theory its already fate accompli - they had the chance to lock him through 2026 at exactly what is widely expected to be his next contract avg and they looked him in the eye and said no, we don’t think you are worth it. Folks are grossly under-appreciating this important fact in his story imo, but its just my opinion so who knows eh?
I think after the catastrophe we had this year on OL and window to improve our offense for next 3 years with addition of Linderbaum would be great. We do have affordable RB/WRs/TE for next 3 years which should help offset money invested in OL. Not sure they will end up paying big for QJ.
This could allow us to focus on Defense in the Draft. It boils down to will Chargers spend that kind of money and do they think it will help get us to a Superbowl within 3yrs.

he’s not a Ravens employee anymore. Let’s say he was, are you assuming he would pay more for the identical player if that player was already his? I want to have confidence he can evaluate players impartially and professionally, with input from his scouting department, no matter what team they are on. Because if he can’t effectively evaluate players that are not already his - we are fucked.

This is much like the long running theory posted by a great many here that Jim was going to sign all of his former Michigan players. It’s almost insulting their abilities to presume they cannot evaluate all players on all college teams - maybe I am just way off base, apologies if I am.

Or, here’s a third one: another long running theory was that Jim had a huge advantage in evaluating college players because he was coaching at UM and he scouted high school players. Thats an insult to all 32 NFL teams that have a large staff of professional scouts, including the Chargers scouting department. Real truth was every single NFL scout probably scouts 10x the college players that Jim did while he was busy running an entire program and coaching his team. Multiple that 10x per scout times 10 or 20 scouts per team, and the scouting department of any NFL team knows 100X more about college players than he did. it was silly to assume Jim had some enormous great advantage over entire large professional NFL scouting departments.

Just odd assumptions to me - again, apologies, maybe I’m completely wrong.
No worries, sometimes things don't come across the way you want them to when writing. I have an issue with that sometimes.

In case of the bolden, Hortiz no doubt can evaluate players on other teams. I'm sure he's evaluated every player in the league at some point and that it's an ongoing thing within the organization. Hortiz as even stated as much. They are always evaluating players on other teams.

I think it's easier for a team to overpay for a player because they know the make-up of the player vs a player on another team. I don't think the talent is the question. IMHO, the question is, is the player going to take the money and play like shit. I think that is the worry you have when you over-pay for a player that's not on your team. It's the great unknown.

I think the assumption in the case of Harbaugh is has a more personal knowledge of the players that he coached at UM and those he tried to recruit for the program. That's just my guess.
      1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
      2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
      3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).
      4) Sign free agents Cole Strange (OG-1.5 m), Whyatt Teller (OG-10m), Luke Fortner (OC-6.5m), Brunskill (OC-vet min) Leo Chenal (LB-5m), Rashid Shaheed (WR- 14m), Cade Otten (TE-8m) Greg Dulcich (TE-3m), K'Lavon Chaisson (ED 9m), Myers (DT-7.8m), Alec Ingold (FB-6m), Hendrickson (ED-25m), Seumalo (OG-9m), AVT (OG). Jenkins (OG- 12m)

I don't think they will, either. I would love to have Linderbaum, and I'm sure Hortiz and JIM Harbaugh would, too, but I think he's a Raven until his prime years run out. Linderbaum isn't even worth hoping for, because he's not leaving Baltimore, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know how this happened. Right after the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to Green Bay, I read on this forum that the Packers still weren't going to be better than the Lions, that they were wasting draft capital and cap room on an overrated player. Amazingly, the Packers just completed a regular-season sweep of Detroit, after the Lions swept them last year.

Parsons made NFL history on Thursday, as he became the first player ever to record 12 or more sacks in each of his first five seasons in the league. The 26-year-old entered Ford Field with 10 sacks on the season, and he left with 12.5, half a sack behind Brian Burns for the second-most in the league.
Micah Parsons enjoyed a historic game on Thanksgiving as the Packers secured a big win against the Lions.

My pitch to Linderbaum, besides more money, is
be the center of a future MVP not a former MVP.
I'm a big LJ fan but his trajectory doesn't look good, especially after a night like tonight.
Protected correctly, Herbert has many more prime years whereas Lamar has less so.
Lamar's legs are slowing down and he's becoming mortal. With Herbert, it's a more traditional offense to execute.
the Harbaugh culture is similar, the weather isn't close.
Jump ship now and avoid a potential, unknown change at Head Coach. (John's hot seat)
He would be playing with 2 elite OTs which is much better than what he has in Baltimore. Especially being miles away from Faalele. Here, Linderbaum would be replacing "our Faalele" in Bozeman.

I don't think it will happen but I really hope it does, he is my number 1 FA if he hits the market.

Yep, they look downright surprised when a flag is thrown against them.

If he ends the season with 18 sacks that would only cost them $2.6 million per sack! Detroit is suffering due to multiple issues including losing their OC.

Chiefs fans were mad that Pickens wasn't called for a unsportsmanlike when he took off his helmet after that catch
Like that would have made a difference

So the penalty stops the clock
Cowboys run on 1st down, two minute warning
                      run on second down after
run on third down.. so with about 30 seconds left they either punt or kick a long FG

now maybe if they punt Mahomes can work his magic in under 20 seconds but they were just hoping at that point
