The Raiders currently sit at a breathtakingly bad 2-14, with their season finale at home vs. KC on Sunday.
I expected the Raiders to NOT be competitive this fall, primarily because every other team in the division had a legit quarterback that made qualifying for the playoffs a realistic possibility. The Raiders? Uh... Geno Smith.
But I had no inkling that Vegas would be *this* bad. I figured that they were good for 5 or 6 wins, anyway.
Geno had a couple of decent-- and therefore promising-- seasons in Seattle before coming to Vegas. Was that success illusory? I anticipated that Smith's history of working with Pete Carrol would have-- if anything-- the effect of helping the Raiders' offense get off to a smooth start.
Local casinos and hotels promote deals to the fans of the Raiders' visiting opponents, diluting whatever home field advantage the Silver & Black would otherwise have. How much, if any, of the Raiders woes can be attached to this?
There's a whole lot that has to figured out for the Raiders to reverse their fortunes. They're going to need a QB better than Geno Smith, and will be positioned to draft their QoF in the Top 3 of the next draft.
They'll also most likely need a new head coach, because at the age of 73, Carrol doesn't exactly represent any franchise's future.
In the meantime, is Maxx Crosby's Hall of Fame-worthy play going to be wasted on a team that-- even under the most optimistic circumstances-- is still 3 (if not 4 or 5) years away from being competitive?
Grab your popcorn. Perhaps the Raiders can entertain us with a colossal faceplant.Last edited by Ghost of Quacksaw; 01-01-2026, 01:24 PM.

I thought Arch Manning had become a bit of a dissappointment this year...Originally posted by Topcat View PostNow there's speculation the Browns may tank next season to draft Arch Manning...but, what if he pulls an Uncle Eli?

The Rams will know if their game means something Saturdy
1-A SEA win gives the possibility of 5th seed and a trip to CAR or TB with a win
2-A 49ers win and you are 6th seed and a trip to CHI or PHI no matter you lose or win
Is it an advantage ?
