Massive overconsumption of either is damaging. But the fact remains its simple and common to consume some alcohol and not be inebriated - I have an occasional drink but almost never get drunk. Smoking weed is an intentional action to get inebriated - there is no one puff-not high usage scenario in the real world.

Its still not legal in Texas, and its likely probation requires regular drug testing - which I think is his problem. I don't care about his new plight only in that he never should have got away with what he did. hit and run, evading the law (likely to sober up) ... thats serious shit he got away with and if he can't follow the rules set for him to be able to get away with it - F him.

I don't want to see people locked up for smoking weed - I just caution that today's weed is no longer as safe as a generation (or 2) ago and there is a lot of evolving clinical data that's showing very serious long term adverse mental effects (and subsequent physical health effects) in young people due to chronic consumption of today's weed that we never saw 30 or 40 years ago.
    No more"rag weed" lol

Don't even have to smoke it now. Just eat a gummies, cracker/wafer, chocolate,...etc or vape it

I've said it before; the REAL punishment Rice is going to experience will be the hit to his wallet. Between the loss of income due to the suspension and the multiple payouts (in the millions) to the injured parties and his constant and long term legal fees he'll be very lucky to retire with a dime, particularly if he doesn't get past his low value rookie contract, which at this point is anything but a given. He's got a real good chance ending up sleeping under a bridge in a few years.

      I don't feel sorry for this asshat in the least . . . . . . .

Back to football, it is the time and season of eternal optimism. We shall soon read stories across the league about.....

This is the best roster this team has had in years. They have all the pieces to win now.
            or
He came into camp in the best shape of his life.
            and
He rededicated himself in the offseason

            or
This offseason, he studied with well known martial arts expert wu-dai clan
            and
Coaches did not expect him to be so far along at this point
            or
He studied every bad play he made last season (and man, where there a lot of them)
            and
            He is as advertised.
            or
He has a renewed focus and a sense of purpose this year

            or
The rookie is turning heads at organized team activities (in which they wear shorts and play badmitton with balloons)

You can fill in the blanks with the teams, the players, the coaches, etc. Happens every year. Every year...it ain't true!
Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

So true Heatmiser. I remember that last season the Colts were the team to beat till what? The 11th game? When catastrophe happened and then they had to go resurrect PR17 outta mothball! It is going to be a very looooong season again.

I have low to no interest in offseason news or controversy about other teams and their players. Regards Chargers, I'm an addict. Everything positive is true, everything disrespectful or derogatory is BS.
I do take Chargers.com seriously. I believe what I saw last year. I believe that the Chargers have addressed our primary problem on multiple fronts. Center, OL starters and depth, TE, RB WR, FB, Offensive Coordinator, his staff and offensive game planning, play calling.
It remains to see the team come together in OTAs, preseason games and the reg season. Vs Ari on Sep 13 will be the first real taste. A game I project that we will win handily. C'mon May 26 OTAs! GO BOLTS!

I was all set to call you out as I looked for his renewed focus and purpose ... dedication even. But you did not let me down. That really is the key to all 2026 success.

                  I'd offer two more:
                  - he completely re-engineered his diet and training regimen over the off-season.
                  - he (older player) revised his training schedule and approach to increase his durability over the long grueling 17 game season.

Personal opinion here but I don't think that I am going to like Fernando Mendoza at all despite all the good write ups and publicities which he has benefited from in the media. Of course being the face of the Raiders franchise accentuates the dislike but I already see him in the same bracket as Mahomes, No Nix and Drake Maye. Don't have the same feeling say for the likes of Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson or even Joe Burrow who is a bit pouty 🤷🏻‍♂️

What about the excuse I’ve heard for Justin’s entire career?

Isn’t Justin at a huge disadvantage playing with yet another new OC?

                        Whats not to like?

He’s an exceptional young man that’s squeaky clean. Coaches call humble, charismatic, a natural leader with joy and passion for the game. He won the Heisman and national championship.

                        Peyton Manning comparisons are common.

I can’t imagine any reason to dislike him other than it’s straight tribalism at its dumbest — peak rivalry brainrot.

Why treat a 22 year old QB like he’s personally burned your village just because he exists in the wrong jersey?

Also, it sounds like you think the media manufactured his personality and “bestowed” it in an unwarranted manor.

If you look at his college career accomplishments and personality, I don’t see how you come to any conclusion other than he deserves it.

No. Quite the contrary. Presumably, you are aware all OCs are not alike. Getting a great one is a clear positive.

Excuse for being elite? Or the one where his team failed to help win more games?
