Well that dredges up more painful memories. Sipe won the MVP in 1980, and came with an eyelash of beating the Raiders in the divisional round of the playoffs in Cleveland, when Sipe had the KKs inside the Raiders' 10 with under a minute to go, trailing by 2 pts. They opted to go for six rather than 3, and Sipe threw an INT in the end zone, which brought the Raiders to San Diego the following week for the AFC title game. We know what happened next. I think Fouts and the boys woulda, coulda, shoulda beat the Browns and then gone onto beat the Eagles in the SB.
We shoulda neat the Turds. 3 turnovers, 2 ints & a fumble by SD vs 0 by Oak sealed the deal. Couldn't believe that cripple Plunkett rushed fir a TD.
I was in the stands.

Fouts coming up big again. I will never forget the year SDC was the most talented team in football and a crippled Oilers limped in to town for a playoff game. Me and my best friend spent the night outside the ring of the Murphy in line for tickets to the following AFCC game. We were #3 in line. Fouts threw, what, 5 picks that game? Can’t recall.
On the bright side it was a heck of an all-higher party.

There was a freak play when a Chargers' DB tipped a Plunkett pass that looked like it was going to be an INT, but the ball went into the hands of a Raiders' receiver who took it in for six. A fluke TD that was the difference in the game.

I was at that game. I was 22 years old. I remember standing in line for tix too. It was right after the Chargers beat the Broncos on MNF in the last game of the season to take the division title away from Denver. It was epic. Watch it here. Fred Dean causes a strip sack fumble of Craig Morton and Fouts scores the Bolts' first TD by running it in on a bootleg. youtube.com/watch?v=goWTyzhLGl8
Their big FA his offseason was CB Trae Waynes, he’s been out with a pectoral injury and likely won’t play us.
starting WR John Ross is dealing with CV19 and it isn’t clear if he’ll be back to play us, either way hes missing preparation time and isn’t looking good for him
2019 6th round pick RB Rodney Anderson was waived after a failed physical (ACL injury last year)
WR AJ Green dealing with a hammy
not practicing today and won’t participate in scrimmage tomorrow.
DT Josh Tupou opted out
again, this isn’t to be insensitive, my focus is really just on week one. Obviously I feel good against any rookie qb even one as talented and Joe Burrow but these added adversities make me feel very confident.
cant wait for the actual week 1 thread
P1. Block Destruction - Ogbonnia
P2. Shocking Effort - Eboigbe
P3. Ball Disruption - Ford
P4. Obnoxious Communication - Matlock

I like it. Coryell used to say that with an entire offseason to prepare, you should be ready to win game 1 - or words to that effect.
That certainly applies more than ever. Rivers gone, killer D, Lynn's team takes the field for the 1st time vs team with last year's worst record.
Win the next one always applies.
We need post a W at Cincy and set the table for a W vs KC..
