The new model is roughly the old model: guys who earn the respect of the players through a standard of character, confidence, wisdom and maturity.
The guys who come in as impersonal ass kickers and disciplinarians,.....they don't last long during any era.

Is Belichick one of those few assholes who has succeeded? Jim Brown talks about how Belichick was one of the few to go to the inner city and talk to the youth in one of his programs.

3. I thought it would be Urban Renewal when the Jags beat the Fins
4. Then it was an Urban Jungle when Meyer called his coaches losers
5. Finally, it was Urban Violence when Meyer kicked the kicker

After his night club incident, he apologized to the team during a meeting. Once he left the room, the entire room started laughing at him.
He heard their laughter.

He was disrespected way back then. His loss of his version of authority is probably what lead to his erratic behavior.
Hard to go to work when you are not respected.

BB is a one-off, maybe only one of his 'tree' that works is Mike Vrabel. However, I think he's more of an asshole to the media on game prep, but if you ask him about anything else, he'll talk your ear off, according to many writers. He's gained respect with players, mostly because he has actually won championships, and does focus on performance. Seau and Harrison loved the guy, but some said they couldn't wait to get out of NE. However, I'm not sure how far he would have gone without Brady. But looking at how they are doing with Mac Jones, maybe his system works.

I think BB will make time for intelligence and intelligent conversations, but sometimes in the media sessions he gets asked a lot of unintelligent questions and it saps his patience.
