Chiefs were stupid to trade for Brown last year IMO. Especially without a new deal in place. Now they try to lowball him and got burned.

Brown going to the Melvin Gordon school of negotiation.

He's gonna come in fat right before week 1, discontentedly play out the tag at $1M/game, and walk next year for way less than the Chiefs offered.

Easton Stick. He went 49-3 at North Dakota State.

I'm hearing Zach Wilson is a dark horse MVP candidate. I'm pulling for the guy, I think he's a good kid with great talent.

Cha-ching! I've kinda forgotten the success he had in college. He had more success at NDSU than Carson Wentz or Trey Lance.

Orlando Brown was disgruntled with the Ravens because they played him at RT instead of LT, where Ronnie Stanley had won the job. So the Ravens traded him to the Chefs. Last season in KC at LT, Brown allowed 6 sacks, 13 quarterback hits, and 26 quarterback hurries on 916 pass-blocking reps defending Patrick Mahomes' blind side. Now, Orlando is disgruntled again, and wants to be rewarded $23 mil a year, which would make him the top paid O-lineman in the league. Moaning Mel in his holdout reportedly wanted $15 mil a year. Gordon was good, but not THAT good. Similarly, if Brown is going to allow 6 sacks and a boatload of hits and hurries, that's not exactly bargaining from a position of strength.

It's not just the poor statistics.

When you look at some of his pressures, it wasn't like they all came against elite players. I think Brown and his agent could justify it to some degree, especially since KC traded for him, but some of his pressures, sacks and hits were against solid, but not spectacular pass rushers.

The flip side is that if you are KC and you decide not to sign him, who would you switch to???? Finding top OT lower in the 1st round is tough to do, and it is not like FA OT are very good.

KC was gambling that Brown would take the step up and become the kind of player they hoped he would be and he didn't.

The only flip side is it is one hell of a lot harder to find a premium LT than it is to replace a RB. Not that the Tommy Two-Tone and the Chargers have not done their best to prove the opposite w.r.t. RBs, other teams seemingly have no shortage of quality backs

But he’s not the best LT, not close. I hope he doesn’t sign the offer sheet and come in to “prove it”. Almost rather see KC over-pay and let him Big Lazy it from there. Wishful thinking…

I just watched the end of KC game 2 at the gym. Damn i miss seeing my bolts play real games, and damnit I still think I am right that the pass defense was not as good as stats say. Never provable, but when does that stop me, eh?

Q: Does QB scrambles after not finding a receiver count as rush defense or pass defense? I know it counts as rush in stats, but just between ya’ll and me - is it? F-ing Mahomey ran down a wide open field for 30 yards on their play prior to Kelce pass TD to tie it up. DBs were clueless until he ran from the 40 to the 20 before they even knew he was running.

Then watching Kelce run thru our DBs like a gazelle thru grass for a 40+ yard TD to immediately win OT - its part of the cement in my clogged brain that says our pass defense was not as good as believed. I guess it was average with every starter available, but lose one single piece, whether DJ (ouch!) or ASJ … and it was Acapulco cliff diving into the sea of mediocre.

Fortunately, this year’s D will be Top 10 and we will not only win the SB, but pummel every inadequate opponent into whimpering sniveling submission in the process . Cannot wait to get this thing rolling, did I mention the 120” screen? I’m watching The Open right now and I’d swear I can see ball spin. I promised to take my mom up to SoFi for at least one game as well - anyone know when single game tickets go on sale, or are they already (haven’t looked - its July).
