Do you happen to recall the first game at the Murph when they played an NFL team? (Detroit) - It was only preseason but John served up a couple of pick six in the first two possessions. It was such a bummer because we all were anxious to see how the Chargers matched up with an NFL team.
Hadl had some great games as a Ram, also. Had great chemistry with Harold Jackson...some amazing deep balls he threw...

Alright, I know my screen name is Hadl2Alworth but I never saw them work together. Or just very sparingly. Are there any full games recorded with these two that are quality tape-jobs? I've seen Alworth and Hadl play as Cowboy and Rams' players but not really so much the Chargers. I was born when I was born and raised in a family of mostly non-sporto's...what am I to do.

I don’t remember seeing Alworth, a tad too young. I do recall Hadle’s final year or so though. Loved him. CJ was a mechanic, nothing flashy just always appeared with a window for MFIC to drop it in, crafty wily professional. Pure class, Great career. KA’s career is on track to surpass him imo, He’s similar crafty wily mechanic style and also not that fast or big, he just knows how to get open in 3 steps like no receiver I ever saw in bolts. AM - meh, good production but not top shelf. JJ would have been if he did not over-absorb his press and sabotage his career. Never to be heard from again is the story of his career. VJ could have been on of these guys but he took wayyy too long to develop and then didn’t hang out to end it. What did it take him, 4 years to emerge as a star? I recall we got 2 good years from him, though memory fades.

Wes probably woulda had some records set IIRC during that strike-shortened season. I never saw Bambi...only got into the bolts around 1980 or 81 at 8-9 years old. I remember Wes and Charlie, the guy who would just be open although he was slow. but those guys back in the days had REAL hands...none of this tackified glove shit. they caught everything barehanded like how it was envisioned to be.

                        Thanks to all.

Here's what is strange about being this old - I can't believe it - where did all those years go? I wish each year lasted much longer. Once I was young and strong and a good athlete - now I'm weak and old and can hardly walk without a cane. Trust me when I say - those of you that are still youthful - enjoy it and get all the good you can from it because it will be gone before you know it.
