I can't believe that people still question him in the game day threads. He is still young and makes an occasional mistake, but c'mon people!

If there is a Flyfisher sighting next Thursday, after the game, it will be a bad sign.:couch:

Is "Rocket Man" an appropriate nickname for Herbert?

Back in the day, when LT was tearing up the league, I used to listen to the radio broadcasts of the game. Hank Bauer was the color commentator. And he used to say over and over - Chargers fans, savor these moments, you are witnessing greatness, and it's not going to last forever. Although Herbert's career will probably last a lot longer than LT's, just by the nature of their respective positions, I feel the same way about Herbert. We are witnessing a generational talent, and his career has barely started. Herbert may turn out to be the best player in franchise history, one of the top players ever in the league. So let's savor every play, every game, every season of his career.

The Winners and Losers of NFL Week 14

Justin Herbert had a throw for the ages. The Raiders weren’t quite as impressive.

Patrick Mahomes entered the league in 2017, and this is longer than any pass in his game-changing career. Josh Allen’s arm is the stuff of legend, and his career began in 2018—but he’s never thrown any ball farther than this.
Justin Herbert is our ThrowGod, and it’s time for everybody to start worshiping him.

Patrick Mahomes drew legitimate Hall of Fame buzz just a few years into his NFL career thanks to a record-breaking start as the Chiefs' starting quarterback. But there's another AFC West signal-caller who's off to an even better statistical start to his career. With three touchdown passes in the Chargers' blowout win over the Giants on Sunday, second-year QB Justin Herbert eclipsed 30 scoring passes on the year, making him the first player in NFL history to throw at least 30 scores in each of his first two seasons.

That's right. Literally no one had ever topped 30 TD passes in their first two seasons before Herbert pulled it off on Sunday. Not even Mahomes would qualify if you removed his "redshirt" rookie year; he exploded for 50 TDs in 2018 but had just 26 the following year. The NFL has grown increasingly pass-heavy in recent decades, so it's not necessarily a feat that'll prove unbreakable. (Even Peyton Manning's record for scoring connections with a single pass target, which he deemed eternal upon retirement in 2015, is now under fire from Tom Brady.) But it proves just how far Herbert has come in a short amount of time.

Herbert's stats have risen, comparative to the other elite QBs in the league, since the last time I posted about them.

Justin is now 2nd in TD passes, tied with Matt Stafford with 30. Brady continues to lead the league with 36.

He is now 3rd in total passing yardage, with 3,822. He still trails Carr, who is 2nd with 3,926. I believe he will eventually surpass Carr though. Brady, of course, leads the league, with 4,134.

Justin's passer rating has improved to 100.3. He was in the 90s last time I posted.

His completion percentage is 67.1 - up from 66.6.

He is up to 7.6 yds per attempt, also an improvement. Brady is 7.5, Mahomes is 7.3.

His 11 INTs is tied with five other QBs, including Josh Allen, for 7th most. Mahomes has 12. Lamar Jackson has 13. Burrow has 14. Brady has 10.

He is 2nd in plays of 40+ yds, with 11. Stafford leads the league, with 13. Rodgers is one behind Herbert with 10. Brady and Allen are way down the list in this category.

He has been sacked 27 times, which is 12th most. Burrow (41) and Jackson (38) lead the league.

His 268 yds rushing is 9th among QBs. His 5.6 ypc is only exceeded by Josh Allen (6.1ypc/531 yds), Lamar Jackson (5.8/767) and Jalen Hurts (5.7/695).

His 2 running TDs is tied for 12th most with 10 other QBs, including Tom Brady, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes. (Hurts leads QBs with 8. Somehow Sam Darnold has 5. Tyrod Taylor has 3.)
