And we're stuck with the bill.
One thing I don't understand about Herbert at this point in his career is it doesn't feel like this is his team at all, as far as leadership goes. Even with a bad head coach I would like to see Herbert take on more of a leadership role. Those who act like Herbert can do no wrong will misinterpret that as me pushing for Herbert to act more like Rivers. That is not the case. Herbert can be a quiet leader in the same way Joe Montana was. But I can't tell you who the leader of this team is, which is a problem. My guess is it's Keenan Allen or Austin Ekeler.

Rivers didn't look himself, but then Mike McCoy came along in 2013 and all of a sudden Rivers was an elite quarterback again. Herbert needs a new head coach, but hopefully someone much better than McCoy.

A great example was the 3rd quarter Chargers D balling out. The O led by Herbert chose to hand off the ball and run up the middle 3 straight plays. If Chargering is to stop, Herbert must put a stop to it and throw the damn ball.
Fuck establishing the run and reacting to the terms of the other team. Yes football is situational, improve how talent is used. Clearly the O-line has limitations so stop running Eck into the teeth of the D-line. And Herert needs to unleash himself moving out of the pocket to both run and throw deep.

Honestly, I cant believe how many people just don't understand how important actual OFFENSIVE WEAPONS are. The year Mike McCoy showed up, do you know who else did? Keenan Allen. Adding Allen to Gates helped a lot. Herbert doesn't have any one on the offense that puts fear into defenses. Anyone who disagrees with this are not able to get past their fandom and actually analyze the roster. Keenan is old, Ekeler is a good scat back only. Again NOBODY scares defenses.

Again who on this team scares any defense? Keenan catches it and is an easy tackle. Palmer is SLOW man. That bomb that he caught should have been a TD. It's actually pathetic it wasn't. Mike Williams like ALWAYS got hurt. Even when healthy the guy is slow and always has to make contested catches because he cant separate. Running game sucks. We hear scheme and tight ends...blah blah..Ekeler is a WAY below average RUNNER.
If it was me Id go heavy run with Kelly and just try to play action. THe o-line cant hold up long enough for the slow WRs to get down field.
Im sick of hearing how "talented" this team is. IT ISNT. ALl it does is let Telesco keep getting a pass.
