I love Carlin and understand his impact on comedy as the legend he is. That said, I saw him live once, in Vegas, and I can tell you he could not have been more bored with his own set. He blew right through it and then basically ran off the stage when he was done and we were was sitting there thinking, "that's it?". I know it must have been an off night and you can't judge a legend by one live performance out of thousands, but that was the one live performance that I was at and it is hard to forget about it.I'll ride the wave...where it takes me.

Carlin was pretty incredible in his time. Probably one of the best comedians to ever write comedy. But, somewhere in the late 80's to 90's,IMO, he lost his fastball. His set was a lot more cynicism than fun, and I no longer found him particularly funny. Just one man's opinion.

I agree with you about George. It was sad to see him go from witty word-play to Lewis Black.
