Day 2 NFL Draft 2021 - Conclusion

I’m referring to her comments about most teams hitting their first and second, and making their money in the third. I would like to know who these teams are.

Yeah but even the good teams don’t do what she’s describing. The Patriots are the golden child for how this is not true.

I was just reviewing ESPN's pre-draft rankings of the 2017 draft. Patrick Mahomes was ranked No. 52 and when the Chiefs traded up to No. 10 draft him many considered it a pretty major reach. I'm just saying that pre-draft rankings always turn out to be way off in predicting who is going to succeed in the NFL. Just for another example, OJ Howard was ranked the No. 6 best player and top TE in the 2017 draft. Howard was drafted No. 19, the first TE off the board, by the Bucs. Meanwhile, George Kittle wasn't even on ESPN's list of the top 100. Kittle was drafted in the 5th round at No. 146, the 7th TE taken. In four seasons, Kittle has doubled OJ Howard's per game production in receptions and yards. Kittle is a two-time Pro Bowler, a second team All Pro in 2018 and first teamer in 2019. Howard has never been a Pro Bowler or an All Pro. Don't put too much stock in rankings, especially when you get outside of the 2nd round. They are not the Gospel my any means.

Pats have been drafting at the end of rounds forever. When the moved up to the top, they get guys like richard seymore and vince wilfork.

Kittle should have been a top 10 prospect based on hindsight.
If McKitty is half the player we got a steal @#97.
Kid has 11” hands. Catcher’s mitts make for good landing spots.

It looks like we got 3 starters. Mckitty by default because he is a blocking TE on run downs.

And I cant help but think that Mike Williams is on his way out the door, probably after this year although he could be had in trade for the right price. WR talent just seems to be everywhere right now.

Two (likely) home runs and two question marks so far. If you want extreme head-scratchers look at Dallas's or LV's draft...worse than Leatherwood.

Telesco kind of gave a hint prior to the draft. They are thinking future needs as well as current, they now have a TE and WR that are very likely HH and MW replacements. They get to see Cook and KA13 do their thing for a year and are on Herbert's contract timeline. If they do become productive, this OL will surely help, who knows where that upside ends.
