With limited games, limited tape, fewer workouts and guys sitting out, Im not sure how any consensus could be made on most of the day 2-3 guys.
In those cases, you want the guy that might be a #41 type player at #135.

You do not want to pick the possibly #135 player at #41, which is what we did with McKitty (using your example)..

I hate watching our drafts. They did well in rnd 2 getting Asante Samuel who had a 1st rnd grade. In the later rnds they have their picks already pre selected so it doesn't matter who falls to them and their board bears no resemblance to reality it seems.

WR and TE are our positions of greatest depth. We really needed EDGE help w just 1.8 sks/gm last year even after adding Frackell so we still only have 2 good DEs

We don't need a WR but if we did CBS had Josh Palmer ranked #139 - 5th rnd. TE then?. Interesting Mckittty is ranked 212 - a sixth rounder in 2 rankings You just shake your head. This is an arms race and KC are way ahead of us. 9-7 next year at best.

At the time of the picks I would have taken Perkins and Melifonwu. Guess we'll see in a few years.

            None of them can block.

I’m not as smart as you guys, but isn’t it nice to have a TE on the field that can both catch and block? Parham is a playbook restrictor plate.

We have some TEs on the roster, i wouldn’t jump to call that group a strength personally. They weren’t scaring anyone imo.

I hope he made two good picks - but McKitty seems like a project for sure.
                  I was wrong about Tremble

I thought Wyatt Davis would have been good instead of Palmer though
I’m fine with McKitty. But would have liked Davis instead of Palmer.

^This. Cook is on his last legs, Parham is still really raw and Anderson and Sokol are just guys. It was an area of need.

Most teams hit on a lot of their first- and second-round picks. It's the third round where a GM makes his money. How has Tom Telesco done in the third round since he was named GM in January 2013? Not very well.

2021: WR Josh Palmer (3A, pick 77), TE Tre' McKitty (3B, pick 97)

2020: none (2nd and 3rd round picks traded to the Patriots in exchange for the 23rd pick in the first round, used to select Kenneth Murray)

                      2019: T Trey Pipkins (pick 91)

2018: DT Justin Jones (pick 84)

                      2017: G Dan Feeney (pick 71)

                      2016: C Max Tuerk (pick 66)

2015: CB Craig Mager (pick 83)

                      2014: G Chris Watt (pick 89)

2013: WR Keenan Allen (pick 76)

Allen is the only difference-maker in there. Jones and Pipkins are the only other players still on the team.

I agree about WR depth. Disagree on TE depth.
