2022 Official Bolts Draft Superthread

Many here are making excuses as to why signing D Adams can't/shouldn't happen. None of those excuses hold water, though. Here are the facts:
1. There won't be a single WR in the draft that will match D. Adams' production next year... or even the year after that.
2. Paying him $25 million/year is not financially irresponsible. We have enough cap space to pay both KA and DA for 2-3 years. Signing a couple of DT's and Adams (along with many of our own FA's) still leaves us $27 million under the cap.
3. We have struggled against top defenses this year. Pairing KA, DA, and Eke would be nearly impossible to defend.
4. Paying that kind of money to 1 player does not necessarily come at the expense of other positions. Next year's roster is 2 positions short of being strong at every position (CB/RT). You can get those positions through the draft in the 1-2 rounds. After that, you can get some quality depth rounds 3-7...

The Chargers are slotted to take a CB in round 1.
Gardner, Elam, McCreary, or McDuffie.

All great prospects.

I would draft McDuffie based purely on his experience in the slot. Asante can play the slot too, but given his head injuries I’d prefer he stays outside. Staley requires a lot of run support from his nickel and I want ASJ to have a long career.

Listen Pete....or Paul....or Mary? Nobody be forgetting the lines...lot of ways to go about it, though...I'm thinking FA for the oline anyway...never fear, though...us trenchers will be representing come offseason...can't overlook some of that defensive skill early in the draft though.

LOL! I've been a trencher for years. Of course, we've needed an upgrade all along the OL for years, too! I feel pretty good @ OL (Just need a RT this draft). So, I'm on to something new. Now I'm in Super Bowl Roster mode.

Nutty is trippy... and versatile/multiple.

100% agree. McCreary or McDuffie would be ideal. Both are Staley-types.
You could wait until the 2nd-4th rounds... but now you're looking at guys that are not as well-rounded... as multiple.

I still get the feeling Staley is going to select some defensive pieces through FA, so I’m not setting my heart on any draft strategy until I see how the money shakes out.

I’ve seen enough off-seasons to know nothing is ‘a given’ at this time of year.
