Booth has hardly missed any snap, minor stuff, durability is a box best checked off for Chargers, regardless position. My thing is projecting forward to second contract, is he a keeper, would he be willing to sign for team friendly contract and of course how productive. Booth would be a mainstay of Staley defense, position flexible and ultra competitive. Never trusted Husky’s, well coached system players, Clemson produces more NFL top level talent.

Well if you think we will sign one of those expensive CBs and then draft another at 17, you might be dreaming.Originally posted by TexanBeerlover View Post
can't have too many corners. someone is always nicked up or injured, ASjr has two concussions first year. what's protocol after 3 or 4? Davis took a step back, very disappointing season. Competition, whoever steps up and availability is best availability or do we want to keep reliving problem areas caused by lack of depth.......
Davis is making 10 mil a year.

You have to invest money to make money. Don’t get all cheap on us Telesco :rasta:
just wanted to add, hate that he let Hunter Henry walk. Enough for me, to make a statement like that and stand behind it. Or maybe it’s ownership? Please enlighten me. To see Rams go all in and win it all makes me wonder, what the hell ……..Last edited by TexanBeerlover; 02-17-2022, 12:06 PM.

If Booth falls to 1-17 I pick him because I've got him as a to 10 player.Originally posted by TexanBeerlover View Post

I can find a RT in the 2nd rd.
My question is if a guy like Salyer who I love was to fall to 2-49 would you pick him despite needing a RT. I think Salyer is a 10 year starter at RG.

It takes a combination of drafting well and taking risks in FA to build a championship level team. (Plus luck) Playing in the AFC West these are risks that have to be taken if the Chargers want to become true contenders.Originally posted by TexanBeerlover View PostYou have to invest money to make money. I don't understand signing an expensive FA CB when there are so many good CB's in the draft. Darft the BPA @#17 (likely a CB) and use that FA money bringing back the guys you like (MW, Nwosu, White, and Jones).Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

"Known" CB's rarely hit the market. When they do (cap issues etc.) teams tend to over-spend for them... bidding war. That means not bringing back your own "known" FA's.Originally posted by TexanBeerlover View Post

So which of our own FA's would you not bring back...? I get the feeling that MW, Nwosu, White, and Jones are universally liked by both the GM and HC. We won't have the massive amounts of FA money that some people think we will have. I guess we'll have to wait and see who TT brings back.Protect the QB

Any or all free game with Derwin James one exception.Originally posted by Boltnut View Post

seriously, wouldn’t take all down to get a deal done, 2nd most cap space in entire NFL. It’s not an all or nothing proposition.
Do you think Rams are only team that can pull off moves to acquire elite CB1? Or just Telesco doesn’t have the balls

We'll see. There are a couple really good 'CBs on FAcy. Think we need DTs more though. This off-season will be the most interesting for us in years imo.

If you're not bringing back your own FA's, you are creating holes in your roster. You could fill some of those in FA... but who makes it to FA...? JC Jackson is probably the best FA CB. But the Patriots probably re-sign him. If not, he's going to cost you $18 million/year. Carlton Davis...? Probably gets the F-Tag. After that, you start looking at older (Gilmore) or guys that won't be as good as the CB you could get with the #17 pick.Originally posted by TexanBeerlover View Post

I'd use that #17 pick on a CB that has inside/outside capabilities (in case ASJ gets another concussion) and is a very good tackler (Staley's preference). That 1st round pick also gets a 5th-year option. It's long-term thinking in a league that likes to throw the ball.
And you know a RT has got to be in the 2nd round plans...
With 2 of your biggest needs covered in the first 2 rounds (CB and RT), it sure would be nice if you didn't have a bunch of roster holes to fill (WR, EDGE, LB, DT). The nice thing about MW, Nwosu, White, and Jones... you know they fit. Both the HC and GM are comfortable with those known quantities. Are you sure the FA's you bring in will all fit in your scheme...? Big gamble... when you don't have to gamble. There is enough money to bring all of those young players back. Once you bring them all back (even if you replace via FA)... there's not a whole lot of money left. Maybe enough for some role players. The NT and DT positions would be my FA targets (after bringing my own back). They come a lot cheaper than the premium positions.Protect the QB
