Let’s not forget we had Webb doing a lot of Nickel work in TC last year before the injuries, reportedly looking pretty good doing it as well. Staley definitely has the pieces on the backend to mix and match personnel against whatever the offense has going on. I can definitely see us playing dime looks against run heavy teams with 4 safeties on the field.

Webb also has Slot versatility. I would have been great if he had a season under his belt.
Wood is not going to be a LB replacement style of player. He is going to be a deep defender who can close and come down to stop crossing routes type of player. He is just not that style of player. He does free up and allow Derwin and/or NAS to come down into the box for us. Wood is a deep defender who can play deep and come up, or stay deep and allow others to play close to the line.
The other guys to look at in those roles are Webb and Gilman, since both have had a lot of success in that role when they were college players. Neither of them was used much as a deep defender and their highlights are mostly when they are down in the slot or down in the box. But neither did a lot when they got further off the ball.
This is embarassingly bad. The entirety of TPB is turning short lived, meaningless performances during the opening days of OTAs into a moratorium on chainy.
If only PFF were around to grade it all.
Fine. You celebrate September's darlings, aka LAC. Slather all late Spring and Summer. Crush chainy for having the audacity to stick to the Trade Value Chart.
I will engage in tough love towards my Cousin JT. I will gladly be your Bud Grant.
