they won't make a #5 swap trade until #5 is on the clock, agree. We won't know if we trade down with anyone until we're on the clock - the only time I've ever seen the swap trade announced early is when its for the #1 pick and its guaranteed the target will be there. its quite possible there's a verbal agreement from a team or teams? in which they say: "if our guy is there, this is what we'll give you for your #5". The other side of that coin is that getting a "franchise" QB when you have nothing around him may only ruin the guy (see Mac Jones after year 1, Bryce Young, Justin Fields, David Carr, etc.). Is this assuming McCarthy goes at 3 (if Maye is still there at 4)? I have a hard time believing AZ is going to trade their pick for anything less than an absolute ransom with MHJ waiting for them.
