      March 23, 2024 - 9:32 am

Bolts, Titans hint at willingness to move at 2024 draft … With the draft now just 33 days away, the LA Chargers have become the 2nd team with a top 5 pick to suggest that they would be open to trading down from the area on or before April 25th. Earlier, it was reported that Arizona proclaimed themselves ‘open for business. At the same time, there had been speculation that after losing both of veteran receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen within a couple of days of each other earlier this month as the Chargers struggled to get under the cap that they might be very content just to stay at #5 and select one of the this year’s top receivers, especially if Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison was still available at their pick. However, in comments to the press late last week, new GM Joe Hortiz said that in fact all options are on the table for the Chargers and the feeling is that with a new, big-time coach now in town in Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers might like to add more picks to begin a full rebuild. Meanwhile, the buzz is that Tennessee, which currently has the 7th pick overall, is also reportedly letting teams around the league know that they’d also be willing to trade down for the right price. And while its almost a given now that the top 4 QBs will be off the board at that time, any team that was specifically targeting a player like Notre Dame OT John Alt, Washington WR Rome Odunze or Alabama ER Dallas Turner might in fact be tempted to move up. And while Tennessee’s primary need at the 2024 draft appears to be OT such that Alt would be a great fit with the Titans, this is a deep OT class this year and they would certainly have a chance to address the position literally right through the first round. Stay tuned!

Problem is there's more teams willing to drop than there are suitors to buy up. Like I said I would be more than happy to trade with the giants for their third rounder to drop one spot and Still draft MH2 with the sixth pick.

just noticing that Minny will likely receive not one, but two third round comps next offseason, and of which simplifies the compensation for the if and when we trade down w/them, and so....

even tho 11 & 23 is 210 points over the value for 5 overall, we could still turn around and trade w/NY for their third/240 points, and so.... it makes sense to ask for one of their third round comp picks, which would make their offer greater than the Giants.... in theory.

5 for 11, 23 and a 2025 third round comp pick.... personally, think that gets it done ??

If they really want 5, i would think their 3rd #3 next year would not stop them

Cousins is one of the 3s, who is/are the other?

Tony Pollard, Rhomondre Stephenson, Chuba Hubbard, Khalil Herbert, Kyren Williams, Ty Chandler, Isaiah Pacheco, Isaiah Mitchell... most of these guys are drafted later as depth and many times don't get much playing time until the starter goes down.

IMO, this draft class is deeper than most. A RB in the 4th round should do well in our rotation. In the end, it won't matter who you get, or when you get them, if the OL can't run block better.

Other than the Chiefs guy (& maybe Dameon Pierce), there hasn't been an RB worth a damn drafted on day 3 in the last 4 drafts.
                    Think Joshua Kelly.

But I do think this class is particularly deep, if lacking top end guys.
Probably need to get one in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Since you're drafting at the top of each round ..... maybe 3rd?
It seems like the 3rd is the round to get good RB value in this draft. RB gems do occasionally get found on day 3, Isiah Pacheo in the 7th, Tyler Allgeier 5th (Falcons), Kyren Williams (Rams) all in 2022, but on day 2 the odds are much better of finding a stud. Harbaugh (and Minter) are going to know who to draft.

Why does drafting JC Latham @5 seem like something you could classify as a Jim Harbaugh pick? Is Latham considered a franchise OT? I just read he didn't allow a sack last season translated Jim Harbaugh drafts a player to protect Herbert.
                      SCOUTING REPORT: STRENGTHS
                      • Latham possesses more than prototypical NFL size (looks like a giant at 6-6 350 plus lbs), arm length, and strength, demonstrating a consistent ability to dominate the line of scrimmage.
                      • Exhibits excellent quickness in pass sets, adeptly gaining depth and positioning to neutralize edge rushers and maintain pocket integrity.
                      • Employs a rhythmic and measured pass set, leveraging his reach to stave off inside rushes, coupled with a robust punch and hand power.
                      • Displays a stout anchor and lateral mobility in pass protection, effectively neutralizing speed-to-power transitions and reacting to defensive counters.
                      • In the zone run scheme, his athleticism shines through, achieving reach-blocks and backside seals with high efficiency and fluidity.
                      • Demonstrates the 'gravitational pull' coveted by scouts, effectively passing off stunts and exchanging with guards, showcasing impressive anticipation and spatial awareness.
                      • Brings formidable hand strength to the table, enabling independent hand usage and the capacity to stifle rushers with a vice-like grip and impactful strikes.
                      • As a run blocker, he exhibits mauler traits; his ability to collapse the edge and drive defenders showcases his upper body torque and finishing mentality.

Good news...Trader Joe is open for business...play one team off another...let's hear multiple cash registers ringing...and if the offer is too weak, Hortiz just needs to say, "hold on, I've got a call on another line..." Cha-CHING!!!

Latham's pass blocking is very good, but his run blocking isn't too bad either...if we trade down to #11, a good chance he's still there...and one more thing...he's a REAL RT...so no position change issues...
