And you're expecting Brock Bowers to do this?

Do you know why many of the Rivers games ended in Red Zone fails? Because we plodded our way down the field methodically and eventually stalled. You have to have field stretchers. You have to have a freak or two. Now with Herbert the same crap...Plod down the filed and then try to chuck it to a 6'8 pathetic Parham or hand it to a JOKE in Ekeler who wasn't drafted fro a reason.

And to plod down the field with Herbert's arm is an embarrassment.
Nope. Not buying it. Complete BS.
From 2006 to 2020 Rivers avg yards per completion every single year was well over 10yds per catch.
For Rivers career it's 12.0 Yards per completion. I'd hardly say that is plodding. Know what the GOAT Brady is for his career per competition. 11.5 per completion.
        Peyton Manning 11.7 per completion.

So this idea that we plodded then stalled is a lie.
The fact is they stalled because the OL didn't give Rivers or the RBs what they needed to punch the ball in. But they had plenty of chunk plays. Teams don't typical score TDs with big yards as teams try not to let opponents get behind them. Between the 20s team can move chains. But once In Redzone. You have to be able to run the damn ball in which make play action work better in the redzone as well. But if your OL isn't very good then you struggle to execute plays when field gets condensed.
And Rivers has to do it all by himself. Or force it to Gates real quick before he gets sacked. All because the OL isn't very good.

        Come on Man!
Chargers were not a plodding team. Haven't been forever.
They are a chunk play passing team that cannot win in the trenches when they need to. You know it and so do all these other fans.

I don't think a weapon needs to be defined by 50 yard TD passes but it sure would be nice for Herbert to have a guy like J'Marr Chase who can take an 8 yard pass 60 yards.

We all watch this predictable, slow offense plod down the field and not use Herbert's vast arsenal of talent. We need some weapons that bring some separation, speed, explosiveness and YAC. Surely no one who watches this team can argue that.

I'm talking about decades of roster building.
Since 1987. 36 years. 32 first Rd picks and only 3 picked in Rd 1. And it took Telesco draft in 2013, 2021 and 2022 just to get that number to 3 OL.

3 out of 32. 29 times other units were added to.
You only started 1 RB, 2 CBs, 2 or sometimes 3WR or two TE.
But you always start 5 OL. Always. And all they could do was 3 times in 32 1st Rd picks to upgrade that unit.

The organization likes the shiny toys in the kitchen
But ignore the foundation of the house. It has never worked out for them. Stop with the fancy desert. Get some big ugly bouncers to kick the opponent off the field.

Bolded is irrelevant. We're talking about what's on the team now.

At #5, draft the freakiest freak out there whatever the position. If the freakiest freak is OL, go for it. But if the freakiest freak is WR or TE take that guy. If he's an LB take that guy. I don't care. Just has to be a foundational impact player.

                Lt drafted at #5.
Seau drafted at #5. It's a lucky spot for us.

You should watch his highlight reel. Beast. Maybe not 50+ for a TE, but he brings speed for his size, power and YAC.

I am fond of Brock Bowers. I have watched plenty of Georgia's games. One of my favorite teams to watch. He's a very good prospect. To the point that we can't consider anyone else at #5 after Marvin Harrison is gone? No.

LOL what team are you watching?? The Chargers offense is very plodding. No speed, predictable and easy to defend. The last 2 seasons Herbert's yard average is embarrassing for the arm talent he has.

I am fine with Bowers or Nabors but i want a good weapon for Herbert. I prefer Bowers because he brings blocking also and because few things are more fun than a generational stud TE like we have had before. There are fast, talented WRs in every draft. There is not a Brock Bowers in every draft.
