I think the reason why Hortiz got hired was because he played a significant part in what they did in Baltimore the last couple of decades...how much of what was happening in Baltimore was his doing is probably impossible to know, but it's probably safe to say that Harbaugh had some inside knowledge about that situation that very few people around the NFL had...

Cousins is going to start for someone and someone is going to have to pay him a LOT of $, I will say this, I'm not a fan of Cousins but at this point in his career (IMO) Kirk's better than what Matt was when ATL traded Ryan to Indy...the NFC south is open, there is no dominant team there, probably only the panthers are outside of contention for that division...

another thing to consider with Cousins is that he will require zero draft capital to acquire...

who fits minter's defense better Jared Verse or Dallas Turner? Assuming that they trade down, which guy would you guys take?

I think you are misunderstanding the cap situation for Bosa. If we keep him his cost is 36m. If he is cut or traded his cost is 22m.

So Bosa is going to make $22m minimum this year regardless. The question is if he were a free agent, would you sign him for $14m this year plus $7m guaranteed to pay out next year? Because that is what your option is with his contract.

Well thats the \ reason to hire/promote him here, agree. I love the hire too but it’s nothing but a bet.

A lot of statements are made as historical fact “hortiz does this, hortiz does that” - in truth we don’t know what he’s gonna do as he has never done it once in his life, much less set a pattern of doing anything repeatedly.

We’ll see if he does. The story line is he thinks he has a roster that can win now with a good QB. He’s right - It is a weak division, they could.

Cousins tends to sign shorter deals than most. I think he’s a coach killer personally - he’ll win and win when it doesn’t mean anything and then he’ll crack and slit your throat when it really counts. He’s done it his entire now long and storied career.

Whats not a lot of money for Cousins? He isnt playing for peanuts either. He is worth more than Carr imo. Jefferson signing a new deal is based on where Cousins goes. If he aint at Minnesota, he isnt signing there feeling i get from it. So Minnesota has some work to do if they want to keep him. Maybe a trade to #5?

I've been posting about a trade down with the vikings for several weeks now, to me it's the team that seems like they are the most desperate and will be willing to offer the right type of package to the chargers...plus the guys that will be available at #11 are still going to fill premium needs...if Daniels falls to #5 or if the vikings target JJ McCarthy early in the process then the trade might even happen before the draft...

I can see the Chargers getting multiple 1st round picks, like 11th and 2025, plus other considerations like a 3rd rounder in 2024 or perhaps even a player that fills a need on the roster right now....

EDIT: the vikings don't have a 3rd rounder this year but they do have 3 4rth rounders so perhaps #5 for the 11th pick, 2025 1st, cam ackers, and two 4rth rounders this year and maybe a 5th rounder next year, IDK it would have to be a decent size bundle, something like that...

If Daniels is there at #5 our phones will be ringing off the hook and Draft rape #101 is in play!

The giants would be a much better trade partner. Swap picks and move our third rounder to second rounder or get their third rounder outright and move down only one spot.

Just my opinion but I think McCarthy will be the one a team moves up for if he is not taken in the top 3.
Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!
