second contracts for TEs are cheaper than for WRs.

If they ball out equally....in 4 years
Bowers may be 4 years 68-70 mil.
    MHJ/Nabers may be 4 years 140 mil

Will Hortiz pay that? Idk his habits yet.
But if you’ve got MHJ/Nabers balling out on a rookie contract that gives you the money to go grab a top tier TE, either in free agency or via trade. Or spend that money elsewhere.

Yeah TE's are cheaper and more durable after over the course of a season>playoffs>SB. 7 of the last 9 SBs showcased a Gronk and a Kelce. Oh wait there's a Kittles in there perhaps.

That said we had 2 high cost WRs in Allen and MW. We can get away with 1 top pay WR and durable WR depth as long as our run game is good.

It's not going to work out with Nabers
he's too tied to his jersey number 8
        but 8 is already taken.

        Sorry.

ya I'm totally messing around, I would happily send Max, his family and our 2023 playbook to KC if it meant having Nabers here.

In Daniel Jeremiah's latest mock, he has the Bolts trading with the Jets, down to #10. He has the Jets taking MHJ at #5, and the Chargers selecting Taliese Fuaga.

              Dang, that actually sounds realistic!

Fuaga is more raw than I initially thought but he's a future probowl guard (more than tackle imo). Can't go wrong with Fuaga here.

Amarius Mims scares me in a bad way.
Very little experience, you're betting on his physical traits, jist too risky even at 23 imo.
reminds me of that Adonis-lookinh OT a few years back that busted.
So many more polished, high floor prospects around him, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in round 2.

There were similar concerns about Marcus McNeill in his draft year, and he slid into the second round. Helluva player!

I'm not saying that concerns about Mims are incorrect or unfounded, only that there are players in every draft class who get pushed down due to injury history.

I'd feel very confident if Joe and Jim took him at 37.
Just personally feel safer around all those guys around him.
                      such a high ceiling though.

How many top tiered tight ends are typically available in free agency?

Those guys are almost always locked up in 2nd contracts because they are cost effective and have a relationship with the QB.

McNeil fell because of structural back issues - I think it was his narrow spine.
                          That's probably what you meant.

It eventually shortened his career: he never was dominant like he was that first year.
I remember him blowing up Hall of Famer Richard Seymore on 4rth down in the playoff game at the Murph.

Could be because Marty was replaced by Norf in 2007.... coaching matters.
