if you're Minny do you go out and make a trade like that without an understanding from your fellow GM that you have a deal in place ??
is there an understanding w/Hortiz that we will agree to a deal if they don't work something out w/someone ahead of us, or.... does Joe insist that they deal w/us if they want a handshake deal ??
and does/did Joe ask for their 2025 third ??ED Matayo Uiagalelei, DT Dontay Corleone, OC Iapani Laloulu, CB Domani Jackson, OG Earnest Greene III, WR J Michael Sturdivant, LB Eric Gentry

unless they get a kings ransom post June 1st no way it happens. Also the chargers would have to lose all leverage by drafting JJ before trading Herbert, again not going to happen but I get it.

We're in a really enviable position right now.
Outside the top 3 draft spots the only other teams with gaping craters and no future at QB are Minnesota and Denver.
I can't see Chicago or Washington not taking a QB. NE could possibly trade out if they don't like who is left at #3, but that would essentially condemn them to a lost year with no future at QB, so they also probably go QB.
Arizona is where this gets interesting, the fans really want MHJ and it would make sense for their team, unless they're offered a trove of draft picks which IMO would be the smarter move to accept.
If we look at the Trey Lance draft pick trade it was a move from #12 to #3 for two additional future 1sts and a future 3rd. Denver would really have to mortgage their future to make this deal, and I can't see it, but Minnesota certainly can, particularly if they want keep Jefferson happy. Probably costs them #11, #23, and probably another future second or third to make it similar to the Lance deal.
If Arizona takes the package we get MHJ which would be amazing, if not then pretty much the same package is offered to us and we should take it in a heartbeat.
We have way too many holes to fill between this year and next. Mack is gone after this year, or even dealt before the deadline if we have a bad start, with Bosa not too far behind unless he becomes healthy and remains productive.
Long term we could use upgrades at WR, RB, TE, RT, OG, C, DT, ILB, CB, FS and more high end picks to fill the high value needs would be useful.
At worst we keep #5 and end up with Nabers, which is a very good spot to be in.

the issue you're raising is his leadership which has been a question since the jump. He's a quiet nice guy and doesn't seem to be a task master. We'll see
