Remember, we must have a willing trade partner when on the clock and under the circumstances we face.

High character, high football IQ is desired over athleticism per se.

It is time to get with the program.

BTW I invite anyone to post the vid of Joe Alt pancaking the Wolfpack LB, and then tdy to comvince me that Alt is a finesse player...so misunderstood lol.

Then, I dare you to say "fire the Strength and Conditioning Coach."

Was that his only cake? I watched maybe 50 of his blocks, give or take, I did not see any cake on the field. That said, first off I’m not a good scout so fuck me. Second, he was usually effective at using his length and speed to cut off and re-route defenders away from any chance at a play - he was just not mauling dominating type that by the 4th quarter defenders are looking and going “idunno about heading towards that dude, maybe i can run around the other way and still get there”

I don’t know that mauling marauder is really necessary. I just know many here drool over the idea.

With Mack or Bosa, we don't know how they want to move forward beyond this year and the best edge will be available with that pick. I have my own preference, but really just hope whatever they decide to do.....works out both short and long term
As I look at both lines - I see the most significant team improvement possibility is adding a top IDL. Prefer a wicked fast (ok, relatively speaking) penetrating DL player vs a behemoth clogging NT type. Those are the guys getting $100M/4yr second contracts right now because that is the value they bring to teams.

Murphy gets slotted low teens a lot, Newton mid-late teens. slight “overdraft” at 11 per expert charts but if either is a disrupting dominating starter - who cares. It fundamentally improves the edge players ability to stay clean(er).

They may decide to go for a second tier down around Rd3 though (Fiske or Jenkins). I hope they don’t wait beyond that though.

        Agreed !
        Play style is the issue.
Can anyone find a wrong answer for LAC at the top of this draft ?
        We play modern Harball.

Agreed they shouldn't wait. Guess it depends on flavor but I think run stopper more important than pass rush. I'd be fine with either though😁

            I’ll bite:

There are so many ways we can make this team better, yes. We are deficient everywhere except QB and EDGE, and we have to stop the Chiefs from threepeating. Run the ball better and protect the QB better will keep you close for 58 minutes, even under Staley we’ve pretty much seen that. But that win-the-game play against Mahomes/Kelse? Who’s catching that bomb? Who do we have that’s elite who can deliver in that crunch time we will be facing, and not just against the Chiefs? Yes, build the trenches. Yes, build up the rest of the D. But adding another developmental/complimentary WR to a room full of the same? Seen that, we lose. We won’t be drafting this high again for ten plus years, it would be a colossal mistake not to give Herbert that elite weapon he’s never had (or barely). I trust JH2 know this simple truth about the NFL, and I’m encouraged by the moves they’ve made and the talk I’ve heard from them pre-draft: MHJ is the target, just too much duh for it not to be. If we miss out on him, the team will still surely get better with this historic draft that’s coming, yes yes yes. But Mahomes will be laughing his way to the SB, with us in his rearview. Bank it. I don’t know for sure with MH2 we can beat the Chiefs, but I know without him, we’re toast. I’ll be happy of course to be proved wrong if we go another route and win it all, you betcha. But thinking of the football games I’ve watched the past years, ours and other teams’, there’s good and then there’s the team that wins it all. No, you’re never one player away, but we have a massive hole at playmaker, and MHJ fills it to a tee. Would make the entire team better, don’t see another pick you can say that about for us. 2 cents.

Good post, agree with you. We have needs all over the place so many ways we can go. We know JH2 will build the trenches. I am all for it.

But aside from Mahomes we play in the AFC where there are stud QBs everywhere you look. QBs in offenses that will ut up points against any defenses. You better have playmakers and more than a run game to keep up in certain games.

I dont want to be like the good Titan teams of Henry's prime. They were nasty, physical, with a dominant run game with Henry. Good defense. As long as the game script was going their way they were formidable. But when they were playing a good team in a big game, if they fell behind, they didnt not have the passing game with the playmakers to pull it out

I like BPA anyway. The argument for playmaker works for me. We took OL in the first round two of the last three years and what did do for our W-L? The year we did take a shot at playmaker, TT screwed the pooch. Now Keenan and Mike are gone and Q is circling the bowl, may or may not sink. So we quit on best possible receiver? I think not.We still have one of, if not THE best throwing QBs in the NFL. Let's make sure he gets some exercise beyond hand offs.

So if it's our turn, and MHJ is off the board (to AZ at pick #4), but Nabors and Odunze (and Bowers) are still available, and the Vikings offer us #11 and #23 to move up...what do you do?

By the way, I don't really agree that without MHJ, we're "toast". One player is going to make THAT big a difference? I'm not buying it. Particularly if we can fill two needs with an extra 1st-round pick. So yeah, I'm taking the Vikes offer, if they make it. Even if the above mentioned three guys are sitting there (which they all probably will be) when #5 rolls around.

Now, having said that, if the Vikings do not offer their two 1st-rounders to move up, and we're "stuck" @5, then I'm taking one of those three - or maybe Alt - for sure.

#11, #23 and more......take it and run. Just the 2 1st rounders? Assess the board and see if you can really get a difference maker at #11 and go from there.

I'd be really happy if we could get Giants, Broncos and Vikes in a bidding war to extract the most out of NY....like our #5 this yr, '25 2nd for #6, #47, #107 and '25 1st. That would be ok 😁
