Getting Surtain this year doesn’t have anything to do with Bosa. Surtain would be getting his big pay day next offseason and his agent would know this as parameters of that deal would already be discussed in agreement to the trade.
Again. How much money will the Chargers have next year in FA?
The only reason I threw in Bosa in this deal - is because the Chargers could use monies paid for Bosa to Surtain. Granted, if the Broncos do trade with the Chargers, Surtain would not be included

The Chargers currently sit at $98m of cap space in 2025 but if you remove Bosa, that number increases by $25m. I am not opposed to trading for Surtain - just not sure he is on table.

While their situations don't have much in common, I believe Surtain would be happy to come here and Bosa would love to get out if he feels unwanted. Bosa has little say in where we would send him. Both will get paid regardless. As far as money....I'm sure it depends on other contracts on the roster being cut/restructured/traded but we need a corner of his ilk more than we need Bosa and his issues. I'm just sayin Bosa is only worth the money if he's healthy and can control himself in adverse conditions.....neither of which has he shown the capability.

        Ah, gotcha…
So you want more FA money and Bosa going elsewhere represents that. It’s a good idea…

But there’s plenty in FA money to sign Surtain next offseason. Which is when he would be due his 1st big contract.

Again. If I’m Hortiz, I’m not letting a divisional rival with Sean Payton get ahold of Maye or McCarthy or Sanders unless I get back Surtain as part of that deal.
As a GM, he’s not going to go down as the guy who let the Donkos get a franchise QB for what could amount to nothing but 15 years of futility in draft picks that didn’t pan out. Surtain already panned out. He’s arguably the best CB in the NFL.
He can always rest on the fact that while DEN may have gotten their QB of the future, Surtain picked him off and LA ended up winning the game.

If we can't do a deal we do have him thru 2026...This year cheap, next year 5th option $19 mil, and third F-tag...I see no problem unless he doesn't want to play for the Bolts after third year or simply trade him away after 2 years...2 years from now we have a lot of flexibility.

Sure, but why wouldn’t you want him on a long term deal? Hypothetically, Hortiz would have already talked to his agent prior to this trade and made sure they were all on the same page in terms of the parameters so that this trade even happens.

Surtain is 23 and already considered the best CB in the NFL.

I hope so...LOL! I just hope this is not some kind of guaranteed $75 mil contract...Sure every player is good till their not due to injury...

I would love Surtain on the Chargers - he is the type of player to build around for the future and somebody to really work the "cap" for. That said, he might be a non starter for the Broncos

Does that mean I won't listen? No - I am still listening. Surtain would not be a deal breaker

More just that for the Broncos or Raiders to trade up with the Chargers - its going to be a massive over pay. The Vikings will be an overpay to begin with to go from 11 to 5. But the Raiders or Broncos - much might more!

I would rather have Van Noy at his 9m/2 plus incentives over Bosa even at 15m. Depending on how the season goes, Bosa may start the season on the Chargers roster, he might not finish it on the Chargers roster

And any WR on the board at that pick would be a better value than Sinnott. Not to mention DT and CB. Sinnott at 37 is not a value.
Bowers had 7 more receptions, and 38 more yards receiving than Sinnott, same amount of TDs, Sinnott averaged a yard more per catch, Ben was two tenths slower in the forty, he is an inch taller, seven lbs heavier than Bowers, according to DraftBuzz, Sinnott is the better deep threat and the better blocker, Bowers w/better hands and better in short/intermediate routes, BB has a QB rating when targeted 15 points higher than Ben, and both their player compares are Michael Mayer/Trey McBride, both are said to be able to line up inline and as a FB, Bowers is below avg in every measurable save one, his forty time, Sinnott is above avg in the shuttle, ten yard split and the 40, he has elite metrics in the vertical, 3 cone and broad jump, Sinnott is quicker than fast, and more agile than Bowers, who is more a straight line speed pass catcher, not dissimilar to Luke Musgrave last go 'round, who had good straight line speed, but less so when it comes to lateral agility, both have run after catch abilities.

he might not be quite a George Kittle/Kyle Pitts, but most would agree Bowers is gonna be pretty good.... top five.... nah.... top ten.... prolly.... drop off the edge of a cliff difference between him and Sinnott.... better check your numbers, as.... not so very likely.... (it's closer than you think).

It’s a deal breaker for me.
I just can’t justify me as the GM allowing Sean Payton to get a hold of a top tier QB, and all I got to show for it is draft picks….draft picks that haven’t played a single down of NFL football.
I want a Pro Bowl level player in his prime in return to offset this. Ive seen too many bad trades in my life and thought, “Jeez, they got fucking robbed..” and the initial trade looked good too. But it’s all hindsight. And that’s all the fans will ever see…

Remember folks….who will pan out and become really great players in the NFL in this trade that you are passing on at 5 so you can accommodate this trade…for a divisional foe….at QB….
