And, the Pads sweep the Giants! Edwin Jackson took a no-no into the 7th. Wasn't meant to be but we did get the sweep.

As a catcher, I think Bethancourt is terrible but he can hit and play the outfield. Yes I think you have to trade the light hitting Norris. We need a better hitting SS AND catcher.

Pads have a 15-game home-run streak, which is a Padres record.

So apparently we have one of the top lower-league farm systems, according to this article I can't read. One of the Union Tribune sports writers re-tweeted this, but I can't get past the Braves.

With new amateur talent from the draft and Latin America signed up, Keith Law pegs which MLB organizations now have the best talent down on the farm.

Anderson Espinoza was scared to come to the Padres.

Anderson Espinoza’s whole world changed just like that. The Boston Red Sox traded Espinoza to the San Diego Padres last week for pitcher Drew Pomeranz. It was a unique experience for Espinoza, an 18-year-old who’s considered one of the top prospects in Major League Baseball, but the hard-throwing right-hander since has come around on the […]

Pads might get swept today in a double header but some dude named Schrimpf homered in both games, keeping our home-run streak alive.

Pads wasted a good start by Cashner, but, more importantly, Solarte kept our home-run streak alive. Cashner says he's going to be traded. My guess is the pitching rotation next month will be anchored by 6025.

                    2. San Diego Padres

Top 50 prospects: Anderson Espinoza, Manuel Margot

I don't think any team added as much talent to its system as the Padres have in the past 12 months, between the Kimbrel and Pomeranz trades, the draft and their extravagant spree in the July 2 market. They have two top-25 prospects now in Anderson Espinoza -- just acquired for Drew Pomeranz -- and Manuel Margot, and their first pick (No. 8 overall), Stanford right-hander Cal Quantrill, was a potential 1-1 candidate before 2015 Tommy John surgery. They also signed the best arm in the July 2 class in Cuban lefty Adrian Morejon, along with a slew of athletic position players from all over Latin America.

What the Padres lack, however, is near-term impact. Other than Margot, there isn't a prospect in this system likely to help the major league club in 2017. (Austin Hedges no longer counts, as he lost his rookie eligibility last year.) Hunter Renfroe has benefited from a great home park in Triple-A and never walks, and the only pitcher in El Paso's rotation with a chance to help the big club is Michael Kelly, now 23 and healthy after years of arm issues. But for long-term impact, they rival Atlanta and have more upside in their system than any other organization.

So, on Twitter, there are reports the Pads will trade Upton for Ubaldo Jiminez, who, if the Twitter comments are to be believed, is a scrubby pitcher who is overpaid. Pads are reportedly holding out for a prospect to be included in the deal.

If we complete that trade, not only will we continue to suck, we will become a lot more boring.

Padres home-run streak has reached 20 games. Matt Kemp hit two yesterday.
