In last year's AFCW, Oak was the only team with a weaker defense than the Chargers.
In last year's SB, KC had the best avg defense (19 - 19.3 ppg allowed), SF had the highest scoring avg offense (30 - 28 ppg). You recall who won.
IF LAC plays great D in 2020 and the O is an avg scoring unit, we're a playoff team (assuming STs are decent or better).
Of course avg's are only a clue. Games are decided by the best team on the day they play.

I'd like to see LAC with Tyrod limit turnovers, penalties and move the chains. Avg scoring 20+.
If the D kicks in with some takeaways, maybe a score or so,doesn't give up many chunk plays or points, holds opponents under 20 ppg, we'll win a lot of games (assuming STs are decent or better).

IMO it's incumbent on Tyrod to be a smart game manager with Steichen's help.

        11/18/19 KC 24- LAC 17
        12/29/19 KC 31- LAC 21
2019 was not a good year for the Chargers defense. I won't make excuses for '19 but 2020 should be far better.
The additions of Harris, Joseph and Murray + team health & experience are significant.

thx. I wasnt saying bolts had a good defense but KC was held to season lows when they played the bolts...or at least lower than most other teams KC played. probably because of division rivals know each other better...but I dont know a damn thing other than watching the ball!

If we're stuck at 17 points per game or less then he's gone after the fourth game. We aint goin to the superbowl with that and it's time to break in the newbies.

Totally agree. I'm pushing for a 17 points or less average by our opponents. IMO the defense will be the Chargers strength in 2020. Our offense still needs 20+.on average. 25+ avg would nice.

Our own O has struggled to break the 21 points per game ceiling for years. Regardless of how our D plays out, we need to score more points, period.

How effective the offense is going to be is a lot to do with how well the OL plays. 5 of 11 players on the offense play line, so if 45% of the offense is not very good, the offense is not very good. No amount of game planning or play calling can fix that.

We have great skill players. We had great skill players last year, but it didn't help that much.

The Chargers can start to score more points by getting better field position, and back up the other team to help our D. But in the end, the roster needs to get better across the board, year after year. Draft and develop.

We also had a poor OL for years - could that be related?

Now...if this line can get thru walk thru pre-camp without an ACL...and thru 4 preseason games gelling as a unit. Fantastic. Not seen that in what seems like a decade.

It’s been 25 years since this team has played really good ST’s and with bringing back the same idiot hoping that this is the year he figures out how to coach is just asking too much and not being realistic.
More than one or two games lost because of special teams isn't bad luck, it systemic.

                          I just watched NE/LAR Superbowl.
13 points was enough to win that game !
6 points would have been enough.
