There was plenty to get excited about from Herbert's first start, amid some mistakes.
Wow, all those diagrams and all that commentary. Did someone say or show the "Thunderhammer defense?"

Nice break down i guess but that game is over.
Going forward with video out there for DCs will be a better test. Not so much this week since he has 1 game to look at. Hopefully he gets better and better. That will be the real test to see his development.
His footwork will be key as his footwork at Oregon wasnt good. Has to cut down on the over throws. There will be safeties waiting for those on some of them. His short passing game was always good, it was beyond 10 yards that i didnt like.

I haven’t bought a thing for myself in years literally so I justified it.
family man so I’m pretty careful with my dollars
Good deal, as long as it isn't one of those knockoff jerseys made in Myanmar that sells for like 30 bucks... Man, come to think of it, I haven't bought a jersey or any fan apparel for a few years now.

not a big "gear" buy in general.

A couple of posters already commented on Herberts lack of consistent coaching at Oregon, three HC’s and four OC’s during his Duck career. He showed up and played his senior year, the second year of Cristobal’s new dynasty (), those of us who watched the Rose bowl saw what Justin is capable of. Some experts say he should have been the fourth QB off the board....... BS, most so called experts are, self proclaimed experts, Herbert could very well be the best QB of the draft year.
now that I have established I have a first class ticket on the hype train and love it! Herbert is a rookie, a rookie with some talent and talent around him but he will have highs and lows. I would think with the situation of his learning in the last minute he was starting his adrenaline had to be pumping but he settled in and had a great.......A GREAT game, 300+ yards passing, a passing and a rushing TD! He will have a bit of a learning curve but he will be fine in my opinion, the future is bright for the Chargers and US Charger fans.
loving the hype train! This thread is so much better then Herberts draft thread! Lol.
Welcome Ducks fan! One of the reasons I'm so excited about Herbert is that he is a Duck, and a native of Eugene. My favorite player in Chargers history is Dan Fouts, and I'm loving that this team has drafted another Duck prodigy at QB. More than that though, my mother was born and raised in Eugene. She grew up during the Depression in Eugene and when I was a boy she regaled us with stories about Eugene. She came from a large family, and some of her siblings went to college at Oregon. Virtually the entire family picked up and left Eugene for San Francisco during WWII, where there were jobs and where the action was. But one of her brothers, my uncle Francis, an Oregon alum, remained a Ducks fan his entire life, until the day he died in his 90s about 10 years ago. He loved the 49ers and the Ducks. Though I have never lived in Oregon, I've always had a soft spot for the Ducks because of that family connection and because of Fouts. And the Ducks is the best name in all of college sports (followed by the Beavers).
