I really feel that Williams is going to sit out for most of the year until reality sets in that he's not going to get big guaranteed money. He's going to need a semi prove it contract at a million plus incentives. When you get paid big and fail your somewhat semi toxic until you come back to reality.

I think it's $850,000 for 2021. But, that should just be his base salary plus incentives. If he gets knocked out again for half the season then most likely their only risk the $850,000. If he performs then maybe he can earn $3-4 million. The problem is that the player still thinks he's worth $11 mil a year and sometmes they can't wrap it around their heads that they're not if they're oft injured.

Based on the comment above, only to consider where we are at with Mike Williams if he is not no longer a part of the team. Tyrell at 29 and coming off injuries he shouldn't cost much, I think it makes sense to have at least one more experienced vet if Mike Williams isn't here otherwise we are looking at guys with just one year experience and some very limited Guyton, Johnson, Hill and Reed, that's it outside off Allen

the risk isn’t the money, its th lost opportunity cost of not having a reliable WR2/WR3 on the roster. Agree that the new scrubs already in the house replace him just fine.

I like the idea of Juju over Mike Williams -even if Juju cost a bit more.

I still see greater needs in free agency that the money can be used for. I want OL, DL and CB fortified before WR. But if the choice is paying MW an AAV of say 11 and JJSS 13m-14 - I probably take JJSS.

I see OL, SS, and if Bosa is playing the "rush type LB" - I see even a true 3-4 DE a higher priority than WR. Chargers cannot have Allen, MW and JJSS - thats too much dollars.


EDIT: JJ Watt was just released - -I think he is worth the call. Staley said that Bosa will be that Edge rusher like Klhalil Mack. The need for a true 3-4 DE is probably higher. I don't like the age but I do know Watt will be physically mentally prepared. Hmm...

Is there truly a better 3-4 DE in Free Agency than JJ Watt?
