Facyson, Campbell, Brannon, and Hall still on the roster behind CHJ, Davis, and ASJ. I think we keep 4 S plus those 3 locks at CB so which 2 make the final roster? Or do we keep 10 DBs?

You're not making it up, there was a long form Athletic article about importing run blocking elements from SF.

Yes, the intent is to import the passing from New Orleans/Payton and the running from the Shanahan tree. With that being said, it’s hard to replicate the master. We have to hope that Day ends up getting it right.

I think the 4 safeties are a lock. Same with Campbell. I’d rate the rest in this order:

1. Hall
2. Brannon
3. Facyson

But it seems like the coaches like Facyson, so who knows.

agree, but I wonder why coaches seem to like Facyson..... he was the guy last year that other teams went after(mostly successfully) every time they needed a first down or score......

The 49ers RBs are only good because of Shanahan’s offensive scheme. He could probably make Kelley look good.

Not the reports I saw in preseason, as Meinerz was consistently getting high grades for his blocking. He was playing guard though and center is relatively new for him. But the fact that the comparison being made here is whether Meinerz is going to win the starting job versus the Chargers' third round pick who likely won't see the field.

I think Anderson showed plenty of blocking ability last season, certainly more than McKitty who was apparently picked to be a blocking TE showed at Georgia. The other stating of McKitty's blocking was truly mind blowing.

I was going through the reports quickly for all the targets after 97 so didn't look in depth, and I may be biased as I didn't like him coming out and taking a flyer on a sammy small school IOL in the third makes almost as little sense as a flyer on a developmental blocking TE but better IOL depth would help about now.

Every time a new staff comes across a player with elite measureables, but who hasn’t quite lived up to them, they assume they can draw out the untapped potential. It’s natural. But personally, I haven’t seen any uptick in Facyson’s play.

How does a guy with that kinda speed go undrafted? It’s not like he played bad at Purdue. He set a school record as a freshman, averaging 33 yards/kick return.
