To me is not just about trying to take deep shots down the field which they seem not to do very much. It’s about sending people deep to create the distraction to open the middle of the field more. You don’t have to throw it deep but if it’s there throw the ball. They have to at least challenge the D and show them your willing to go deep.

This, regardless if you throw it they still have to defend it.

That is why those stupid bunch formations and 4-6 yard patterns are terrible to run so often. Spread the field out and send 1-2 guys deep every pass play. If you get a one on one then take the shot deep, if the FS is engaging then you now have two players out of the play. The point is make the defense defend the entire field not just 10 yards deep and 25 yards wide. He is committing offensive suicide.

Word...time for Staley to take over offensive playcalling and game planning...just like Lynn took over ST's and booted Stewart to clipboard holder last season...Lombo stays up in his cozy booth upstairs and charts plays...

Should someone take over play calling from Staley for the way the D collapsed in the second half of the Viking game and let them complete those long 3rd downs and run the clock out? Or for the way we got smashed by the Ravens, Patriots and Cowboys on D?

Fair enough with your points. This has been a consistent theme not being able to get off the field. Even the Eagles and Browns games - did the defense really get off the field

i still think its a talent and depth issue. Also Staleys first year as a head coach - it should be his toughest year as a head coach - he should get better.

Great points!! I like Lombardi as offensive coordinator. It’s tough to know exactly what have been the issues lately. There could be some execution issues from the players trying to pick up a new and evolving system, including Herbert.

The offense has shown more flash to me than the defense overall too!!
