Some of this is on Staley if it turns out that way. He was the one who brought in Lombardi. Buddy buddies.

The team needs to get him back while he's still available. Herbert should lobby for him to come back, because he was part of his ROTY success.

Did TJ do something that BS didn't like?

Yep...opposing teams have figured out how to stack the box and mostly take away the short and perimeter passes...they will NOT drop those safeties back until we can PROVE we can chuck the long ball, repeatedly and successfully. If fans like us can figure this out, what good is an OC like Lackluster Lombo who fails to make these types of adjustments?

Aside from not playing ST's, the only thing I can think of that may have hurt T-Billy is that unsportsmanlike penalty he got in the pre-season...Johnson was really jawing at an opposing player and had to be calmed down by players/coaches...on the other hand, I've seen KA and Adderley do the same thing...I guess if yer at the low end of the depth chart, be careful what u say...

Popper thinks at best he will be signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

It may not have dawned on Lombardi he doesn’t have slow and immobile Drew Brees who needed to stay in the pocket. Herbert is quick and elusive with his long strides and youthful legs. He should be getting more designed out of the pocket plays which frustrate defenses and keep them guessing.

There’s two types of coaches. One that forces players to fit their scheme and the other that builds the scheme to suit the players strength.

              Which is Lombardy?

This don't make sense. If they are stacking the box for those short routes and aren't dropping the safeties back, we should be throwing deep.
I Think we have shown we can chuck the long ball. Just haven't.

I wouldn't mind going max protect, three guys in the pattern and chuck it deep to Guyton or Williams with KA underneath trying to take coverage away

I would replace MW with Herbert’s name instead.

Technically speaking he should be staying in the pocket though and making plays from there.

I mean he was just the odd man out in the receiver group.

Not as bad as Lynn to Stewart, but yeah.
