Not really. I just threw that out there as a warning - things can get worse. But, my guess is the odds are in favor of it getting better with a new owner. If only I had all the money back that my wife spent on shoes, I'd buy the team myself.

You are a lawyer. Things make much more sense now.
I know you were joking about the $624,000,000. My response was also of a joking nature.

And if I knew that your having knowledge of my profession would have locked the universe into place for you, I would have been sure to have mentioned it long ago. It was not a state held secret.

And no, I do not think you can just go to the Charger market and buy a 24% stake in the team like a loaf of bread at the grocery store.

My understanding is that any new owner that is not a family member must seek and obtain the approval of the NFL before any such person can become an owner. That is an NFL rule, not a legal rule.

Within the trust, Dean Spanos maintains that there exists a right to buy out any other trustee if the other trustee wants to sell. I have read that and such a limitation makes sense if Alex Spanos wanted the team to remain in the family, but I am not in a position to confirm that with certainty.

As to each sibling's separate 15% stake in the team, I have read nothing about any limitations regarding the sale of any such ownership interest (other than the one discussed above that is imposed by the NFL).

By the way, congrats to you if you can get your hands on $624M.
I wonder if your arch nemesis Critty knows your an attorney

Dean's plan has been that the Chargers net worth would increase with the move to LA.

Dea and her legal advisors know this.

The timing is suspicious, and there must be an agenda in play.

                        I see two scenarios

                        1. NFL wants to push Dean out, this is their plan to force it. I find this scenario very unlikely, they don’t need this headache right now
                        2. She’s on her own, she wants hers and this whole charity crap is her lawyer’s idea to extricate her cash from the trust. This is the likely scenario, and for this case the mighty NFL will stomp this fire out like a matchstick in an ice cube on behalf of Dean

She's probably tired of having the house play with her money!?!?! $400 million is a lot of money to entrust to a sibling who hasn't always made the best decisions. Maybe she wants her money plus be able to start spreading the cheer to the charities. Top of the market right now and if some monied guy like Bezos is willing to pay a premium for chargers it could be even more.
