watching the graphic during the game tonight.... HC's and their star QBs.... coaches paired w/top tier QBs were top echelon coaches.

Staley has been paired w/a top tier QB, and is wholly avg on the job.... take away Herbert and what kind of HC do we have ??

and it's not the defense.... we lost Bosa this year, but we didn't have Mack last year, and we lost JC Jack this year, but we didn't have Callahan last year.

we have no reason to have such a poor (us) D.

....we have a middling HC, a middling GM, and a middling DFO.

will gladly take the either of Rivera or Flores, and as long as they put Joe Brady or the like in as their OC.
LB CJ Allen, LT Caleb Lomu, OC Parker Brailsford, RB Demond Claiborne, TE Justin Joly, NT Dontay Corleone, OC Bryce Foster, CB Josh Moten, LB Eric Gentry

I don’t think it bodes well for Peyton coming here. First of all, the Spanos/Telesco machine is known for keeping the status quo with regards to sudden coaching changes. In fact, they have a long history of holding on to their head coaches while tweaking assistants. Second of all, they aren’t the type to give up players and draft picks to go after a headcoach. The Saints are going to want more than the Spanos’ are willing to part with, I believe. About the only chance Charger fans have is if Peyton is willing to wait and not go for a head coaching job next season, or, if Staley fails to make it to the post season (which IS a possibility). It’s then that the Spanos’ might realize that they see too much unrealized potential in a Herbert led team and have been patient long enough.

I am just wondering and I am scared that TT may have job security for life.

Staley is a young NFL coach, he's 1 win from being with the top teams in the NFL right now. You have to really take into account that we have really been hit with injuries this season before you write him off. However the first few game of the season we were full strength, so you have to really look at that as well. . . .

IF we don't make the playoffs I would be happy with Payton however if we do make the playoffs I would be happy with retaining Staley. That's fair. If we did in fact hire Payton it would be considered next to the Ross and Marty hiring probably the biggest hire of all time for the Chargers. All this being stated I would take Jim Harbaugh over Payton if the opportunity presented its self as the next HC here in LA 10 out of 10 times.

1 thing tho I would not give up a #1 pick for Payton because no HC has ever won a superbowl with 2 different teams and I don't like the way his tenure ended with the Saints, I believe he pulled the plugg too early there once DB retired.... What makes Payton so special?

Also Staley being 29th in D in the league is outrageous! HE's calling the plays!!!!!!!!! Again Playoffs or bust.

means nothing because whatever the Spanos has done in their long history up to this point hasn't worked. Being in LA the Spanos know they need to make the bold move from time to time... Payton would be a bold move, he shares the same middle name as Herbert!

It seems like every day there’s another article linking Payton to the Chargers.

Sean Payton left his 16-year Saints HC job for a FOX analyst gig, but the Super Bowl-winning head coach has …

Payton must have a PR person placing these stories. Staley must be aware of these stories. Let’s see if he can step up with a little pressure

Staley has no clue. MW should have never played last week. A high ankle sprain takes many weeks to heal. Staley said MW would be at practice on wed and is day to day. clueless in LA.

He’s not a doctor. If the training staff and player said he could go what should he do?

I watched Kobe Bryant’s entire career. He got some bad ankle injuries a couple of times. He got treatment around the clock and did everything he could to get out on the floor. He thought he owed it to the fans and his teammates. And he got out there in remarkably short turnarounds. And that’s a sport that requires running, jumping, stopping g and starting. In other words tough on ankles. How bad does MW want to get out there? Bosa? Keenan?

Agree. If the medical staff says MW is good to play, and the player says he's good and pre-game warmup shows well enough to play, the coach has to go with that. It was unfortunate that MW came down awkwardly on his lone sideline catch and reinjured/reaggravated the ankle.

I understand fans not being happy with Staley, but piling on him about everything isn't right/fair.

Nobody on this team is Kobe Bryant.
