Harbaugh would be a huge upgrade.

I hadn't read those articles or watched Harbaugh's interview on ESPN. I think we can toss out the belief that Harbaugh's contract at Michigan will keep him away from the NFL for a long time. He could very well be on an NFL sideline next season.

Well IF Brandon Staley gets this team into the playoffs there will be no coaching change and shouldn't be. IF he misses the playoffs (He should be let go) there are only 2 HC's to really look at and extend an offer for an interview. 1. Jim Harbaugh 1A. Sean Payton.

Harbaugh every year listens to and accepts interviews from NFL teams he believes could be a good fit. Last season I believe the Vikings interviewed him for their HC job but he chose to return to his team. I just couldn't imagine Harbaugh not being intrigued with Justin Herbert in his system?

Based on Brandon Staley's results so far as HC here and what remains on the schedule..... Unless our Oline gets it together, and Run D turns the corner in the next few weeks 9-8 could very well happen! So well see?

No decisions will be made on anyone until after the season ends, so the coaching staff and GM have a lot riding on the outcome of these next 6 games.

I agree with this. And if you fire Staley - you also have to fire Telesco. Telesco cannot be in charge of a 4th head coach.

John Spanos hires inexperienced HC’s and GM’s for a reason. That’s a reflection of the control he wants to exert on all player decisions.

There’s no way he’s going to hire a coach of Payton or Harbaugh’s stature that would only go to a team where they can exert total control.

Besides that, I think Spanos is too cheap to pay Payton and Harbaugh what they can get elsewhere.

Staley is improving/dealt with injuries. Has changed losing Mindset to a winning one. It's a STRONG foundational piece. Regardless of outcome this year, hiring a Harbaugh or Payton could build on that Foundation. Put the walls and roofing up!

Pure speculation. Nobody here has any idea on how much, or little, input John Spanos has.

I don't know if he should have gone for the 2-point attempt. But oh well, it got the win.

Has he hired a HC or GM with experience? No. That’s fact, not speculation.

He was Director of Scouting. You think that’s a zero input position too?

Jesus, it’s obvious as the nose on your face his influence on the team.

Instead of insisting John Spanos is just a figurehead and hands off…..it would make more sense if you just said you love his GM, coaching, and roster building acumen.

I was 100% for it when I saw they were going for it. I thought about a game long ago when Shanahan’s Broncos beat the Bolts on a game ending 2 pointer.

I don’t think any other coach the Chargers have had has ever done that.
