        - should be cheaper than 20 mil
        - 5-2 playoff record as HC
Didn't he stop coaching because of health reasons?

I want to look for a reason to hate Kubiak but I can't think of any... I'd be cool with him, I think.

          Yea those health concerns though...

          But...

Reid is a walking massive coronary waiting to happen so...

Ron Wolf was the one who recommended McCoy and Dean fell in love him and hired him, cancelling an interview with Bruce Arians and not bothering to interview Andy Reid. My understanding is that Dean let TT and John hire the next coach and that was Lynn. After that disaster, Dean was much more involved in the hiring of Staley. It was a team cluster-f*** for all of the coaches hired.
Any GM who acts like a puppet is a waste of money. If Dean cannot delegate effectively, with defined roles and responsibilities (He does not have Jerry Jones's football background), only some random act of luck will change our fortunes.

Even a bad poker player will eventually get a great hand every once in awhile. You guys are too conditioned to assume the worst around here.

A potent pass rush always helps a secondary hide flaws. But the benefit is diminished if you’re consistently playing 10-12 yards off the LOS, allowing all manner of hot traffic underneath and over the middle (see Miami). Or susceptibility to misdirection (see Detroit). I get that Staley wants to limit big plays, and to his credit I suppose they haven’t allowed a ton of successful Go’s and Skinnys as of late. But death by a thousand (or thirty) cuts hasn’t been fun either. A lot of these guys just don’t seem ideally suited for heavy zone work, except for maybe Asante.

He collapsed on the field before halftime in a game during his final season with the Houston Texans. He stepped down as head coach of the Broncos right after the 2016 season because of health reasons. He retired from the NFL in 2021 after spending two seasons as the Vikings' offensive coordinator. Good coach, but I think the stresses that come with all of the hours put into being a head coach are too much for his heart-related issues.

Okay thanks for the summary. I forgot the extent of his health issues.

                        Worse case scenario:

Spanos: Why should we hire you as GM?

                        GM prospect: I'll keep Staley.

                        Spanos: You're hired!!

GM prospect thinking to self: damn I've got job security for the next decade playoffs or not.

Of the two, I would keep Staley. That said, his not fixing the defense and thinking he is the solution is a reason he should be fired too

As for a GM bringing in the head coach - well for Jim Harbaugh - it would work the other way around
