Man, how cool would it be to have this guy turn out to be a killer SS? Weirder things have happened (Gates as UDFA, K Warner bagging groceries and winning SB in the same year, raining frogs, etc). I freaking love the videos of his run D. It still kills me that we totally screwed the pooch on Polamalu. If he turned out to be even a poor man version, it would be great. To have a feared thumper there and then let Weddle roam and do his thang as FS. One can dream...

New Chargers CB Craig Mager had the seventh best run stopping grade among CBs in the draft class.

He looks like a more athletic and stronger Weddle to me. Better against the run. Im actually shocked at how good this guy looks defending the run. Better than most of the top CBs. Could have an impact on run downs. Wright was also a good run defending CB. Maybe this is his replacement. Maybe hes good in coverage but on his tape its his run defending that jumps out at you. He looks like a tiny LB. Perfect SS traits in the scheme we run.

I agree, train him as a ss. But I want him to keep his speed in coverage more than 10 more pounds as a punisher in the box.
