Tranquill has some potential. Staley doesn’t seem to care much about LBs.

I liked Drue but he got hurt a lot, needed more sand in his pants vs run. We got better for this year with Kendricks.

Looks like KC sees him as their dime linebacker. Using him to blitz and in coverage. #4 on the current depth chart.

So why not sign Hendricks and keep a cheap Drue? Good role player and depth? It was 3 million.

Long story short (from what I read anyway), Drue wanted $9M, we offered $7M. He said no, so we brought in Kendricks. Then, Drue figured out he wasn't getting $9M from anyone and wanted to come back, but we told him that the money was already spent on Kendricks. So he had to settle for $3M from KC.

                Even that is still unclear.

$9 million per year, 9 million over two years? 4 years?

Why are they offering a one or two year 2nd contract to a draftee.

You must admit, that's a bit unusual.

                Charger management spin most likely.

I thought we would. LAC - DT negotiation details not confirmed, other than he's a Chief.

Why not keep a cheap Kyzir White?

Staley is telling everyone in the building that it's not his system, it's the players fault.

Lots of good players not getting big contracts. That is what happens when the superstars get huge contracts - not as much left for the middle class.
This is true, don’t know how to solve it. I have heard proposals that NFL should put a max on contracts but thats going to cause a lot of different distortions. If teams can only pay, say $20M APY, then players will pick either the best team to win a SB or the city with the most non-salary compensation potential from weekly shows, car commercials and shit like that. Not sure if it would end up worse vs better, really don’t know.

Who says they were cheap? Kyzir so impressed Philly after a year they didn’t try to re-sign him. AZ only gave him a 2 year deal, decent but hardly significant APY ($5m/per). Drue took a one-year prove it deal.

Are all 32 teams agreeing with Staley or am I missing something here?

You aren't missing anything, but it doesn't fit the narrative that the Charger owners, front office and coaches all suck.
