Did you watch the full game? Not just the end, but the full game from the dominant 1st qtr through the choke in the 2nd and 3rd till putting them away in the 4th. I find it hard to believe if you actually watched the full thing, you’re coming away super stoked from that.
If the Chargers played Detroit next week and won but played really sloppy while winning, yeah I’m not super stoked about that either.
Beating the Chiefs, Eagles, Steelers (even with the Chargers almost chargering that game away) and losing a super close game to an elite Cowboys team is all more impressive to me than this win or scrapping by to beat teams like Washington.
If the Chargers played the way they did today against any top 4 team in the conference, they would lose in similar fashion like they did the Ravens game…what was that a 30 or 40 pt loss or something?
I don’t have a problem with Staley. His hire in Lombardi is a bad choice because I still don’t think his play designs bring out the most in Herbert. The team will get better under Staley. But in order to become a title contender, they still need to fire that sorry excuse of a football exec Tom Telesco because this team still has massive holes on both ends that coaching can’t fix.
Right now the ceiling of this team is wild card game. Still an improvement over last couple years. But hopefully this doesn’t extend Telesco’s tenure by any one bit and he’s canned as soon as January or February before he’s able to fuck up another draft and free agency period.

Today’s game was two mentally challenged kids fighting each other and trying to lose. Ultimately Bengals outdid the Chargers in that regard. Both teams made dumb and dumber plays and tried to give the game away with turnovers and penalties. I know there’s not one Chargers fan that felt comfortable when the Bengals were driving before that Mixon fumble, it looked like a story thats happened to this team only 700x times.
The Chiefs win from earlier this season was more impressive me to than this one.
Everyone on this forum basically admitted this team was crap after this team got embarrassed by Minnesota and Denver last couple weeks but now suddenly Chargers are a good team cause they beat Bengals? No. Some of these posters went into hiding after those games and surely came back now. This team still has ways to go. But thankfully, the other team Chargered themselves more with mistakes, drops, penalties and turnovers more than the Chargers themselves so they got the win.
Anyway, they finally let Herbert throw some deep shots today and it resulted in an offense that wasn’t slow and stagnant. Basically something Chargers fans have been asking for since the start of the season. If it wasn’t for the dumb Ekeler fumbles, the team maybe scores 50.
Hopefully Staley and Lombardi sees this and gives him more opportunities for this rather than treating him like 42 yr old Drew Brees.
Why did the Minnesota and Denver games define the season?

I realize now it sounds like I’m pissing on a parade and that’s not my intention. I’ll stop responding here because of that. There’s nothing wrong with being happy about this win, I’m happy about this win. I just don’t think it was a very impressive win (you and others may differ which is fine) based on how the game played out from start to finish. That’s all.Tom Telesco’s Results in 9 years as Chargers GM:
- 69-74 record
- 0 division titles in 9 yrs as GM
- Worst record among all active GMs with same tenure
- 6th worst winning percentage among all active GMs overall
- 2 playoff wins despite elite QB all 9 yrs
- Team still has the same weaknesses (Oline and run defense) that it had when hired as GM in 2013
- Consistently puts together horrible depth, expects starters to never miss games

When we lose a close game it's the Chargers suck and cannot win when it matters, they are choke artists. When the Chargers win a close game it's the Chargers suck because they should have blown that team out and if you can't blow them out it's the same as a loss. It's the classic Heads I win Tails you lose. Its good when dealing with 4-5 year old's but using it on adults it just makes the poster look foolish.

The one game lead KC has on us for the AFCW division title is deceptive,
in that we would undoubtedly need to beat KC anyway,
and would own them on tiebreakers.
ie ~ half game lead.
