  • Hire New DC and Replace Hill? (was Vic Fangio, Wink Martindale)

Should we hire him for DC ?
We still need to improve the middle of the D IMO (DT, MLB)

Moderator Note... expanding the discussion to include any other possible DC candidates... might as well add Mike Zimmer as well.

Let's see how tonight goes and perhaps the playoffs
there might be some benefits to having a young DC
    FA:
    RT Cornelius Lucas
    RB Leonard Fournette
    DT Sebastian Joseph-Day
    DE Jadeveon Clowney

I think fangio for dc is worth considering. No doubt he knows how to build a defense and taking over for Staley would possibly be a positive addition to let Staley coach and the D is already setup.

Denver flailing again. Now its a new HC and a new QB they need. In this division that is brutal towards next years chance to not be in the bottom spot of the afc west.

Hire him ASAP. He can only help. Keep him around for next season or 2 as well.

I'd like us to get Vic Fangio as a defensive consultant (or something like that), the propose is to relief Staley from defense play calling....

I'd like us to get a new OC (and maybe QB coach), who can MAXIMIZE Herbert talents... (But I know that this is a pipe dream.)

          Go Bolts!!!

I think a few Charger fans here are going to be very disappointed when the coaching staff and front office return with no major changes.

They had a grand total of 2 years combined experience at the head coach, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator positions.
Sean McVay brought in the ancient Wade Phillips when he got started.

This team badly listed the final 2/3rds of the season...

hell yes, they need someone like Fangio......but john spanos won't like it.

Staley won't do it (I'd imagine). Being a "players coach and all-around nice guy, he won't sack his DC after only one year).

So how do you explain all the miscues on defense? We're just breaking in a new DC or is our DC just plain not doing his job properly all season long. Getting some better players is not going to solve this problem.

He might not have a choice. Sack him or he gets sacked next year year if we miss the playoffs again due to large miscues.

Reading CBS reporters thought the LVR were just going to run out the clock. " Why risk a kick which could get blocked etc." Run teh clock out and you are guaranteed in.

Then Staley called a timeout. ? Don't understand why? It seemed to rile Bisacci who then ran a run play . Projecting here but that sequence was odd.
